We visited museum on 12/5 and found it to be much better than visit last year. Because of the rain, it was not busy until after lunch time. I would expect huge crowds during summer now that renovations are done, so plan accordingly. All of the staff, including the teen volunteers, appeared nice and informative. Especially with the large amount... more

We visited the Science Museum in late August. From all the brochures it advertised the new exhibits so we assumed they were open. (Actually - the brochures from Virigina Beach said they were open in early 2009) So we were very disappointed to find out they have not finished the remodel. (And it appears they are no where close to... more

I took my 4 year old and his 3 year old friend, along with my mom (late 50s) to the aquarium yesterday and it was terribly disappointing this time around. While the website focuses on their new exhibits, the reality of it is that the exhibits ARE NOT COMPLETED. At least 1/2 of the exhibits were closed or empty...terribly disappointing... more

I'm a big zoo and aquarium fan. I've been to Sea World and most of the major aquariums in the US. For the size, this aquarium is not as bad as the critics make it out to be. It cannot compare to a larger scale aquarium (Baltimore, Boston, etc) but for something to do as a nice break from the... more

I looked at the reviews before going and almost didn't go, but my grandson wanted to go so bad we went anyway. I am so glad we did, we had a woderful time, there were a few exhibits that were closed, but there was plenty to see, my grandson loved the stingrays and the sharks, my granddaughter is a little... more

We paid our fare, walked about 25 yards and the grand tour was basically over. The whole place was a bunch of videos and plastic models. I was blown away by the brochure but the reality is - don't go. Save your money for a nice dinner on the oceanfront. more

This museum is under construction. More than half the exhibits are closed. The rest of them are lame. Today there were hundreds of people in line out the door and no where to go once you got in. I kept wondering if there was a fire, would it be safe, could we escape. If you must visit check in at... more

Went February 7th 2009. Although our son had fun we did not. The only thing my husband and I really enjoyed was the stingray touch tank. We spent almost an hour just petting the stingrays. Most of the time we were walking through a big rooms with construction going on. Maybe they should lower the price until the renovations are... more

I thought that I was being overly critical of this place, but after reading some other reviews, maybe I am on the right track. I will say that I might have picked a horrible time to go because not only was it raining that day and every single person in Virginia must have come there to get out of it,... more

Me family recently went to the Aquarium. When travling with freinds and having 4 kids and 2 teenagers total it can be a handful. Luckily the staff was very helpful and the exibits were very informational. The Kids loved the nature walk and seeing all of the wildlife. The teenagers were sure that they were going to have a lousy... more
