I dont really know what's up with these other reviews, I had a great time! The house was so pretty and so interesting. Its got so much history, and the tour guide did a really good job of explaining each era of the house. I really loved the room where they showed us some of the restoration work they've been... More

Thank you for your recent review of Bacon's Castle. Recently you saw costumed interpreters at Bacon's Castle. Although a colorful part of historical interpretation, the Castle does not regularly offer costumed interpreters. Please follow our official web site or Facebook page in order to learn of upcoming special events and reenactments. We look forward to seeing you again soon! More

the inside was a big disappointment, I was expecting a grand old house furnished beautifully, but it was not, the gardens were nice. More

Thank you for your comments. The Castle is not a traditional decorated house museum. The exhibit rooms with artifacts and displays represent items documented from the 1711 and 1755 periods. The other chambers which remain void of exhibits are historic preservation areas which allow a great deal of flexibility for site usage. Oftentimes we host community meetings and special events... Thank you for your review and recommendation. The Castle's rural location has in part assisted in its preservation. Given its rarity and importance to North American history, it is a worthwhile visit for devotees of historic gardens and architectural history! More
