Who knew that Malt Whiskey and Gin is being distilled in Rappahanock County, Virginia??? This is a family business. Following an informative, short tour, we were able to taste a choice of three of the seven liquors they bottle. ($7.00 fee). The shop was manned by the mother of the operation and she is a proud Mamma indeed. In addition... More

My wife and I toured the distillery and had a tasting at the end. The tour was free, the tasting $7. The tour was fascinating and the tasting was delicious. We HAD to take some home with us afterward! They have a recipe called 1797 that came from Belle Grove Plantation that was James Madison's sister's personal recipe. It was... More

Excellent side stop from a day of zip lining, restaurants, and wineries...don't let the outside fool you (looks like old warehouse), ring the bell, transforms to warm, inviting Distillery, aroma wonderful...enjoy the tour and tasting, great stop

As soon as they open the door, you are greeted with the most wonderful smell of fermenting grain. The tour was great. I was less impressed with the tasting. Seems a bit steep for what you get. On to the product: I'm not a gin drinker, so I'll skip that. The Single Malt Whisky is very good (I liked the... More

This is an outstanding small scale distillery with carefully made products. From the moment you ring at the door until you leave the place, you’ll be taken care by knowledgeable and attentive staff. The free tour is amazing: they really take the time to explain all the process and the characteristics of their products. You can also taste some of... More

We visited the Copper Fox distillery while in the area on business. The tour was fascinating, the owners and employees that helped us were informative and lovely to visit with and their products are second to none. We have become real fans of Rick Wasmunds brand!

The distillery is located in interesting complex of old, one and two-story buildings, which appear be a former agri-business. Entering through the large, wooden door, you see the tasting bar across the large room. The tour begins there and takes you step-buy-step through the process of making whiskey. The guide was knowledgeable and energetic about the work being done, the... More

If you like whiskey or gin, here is an interesting way of spending an hour. It is not as extensive as the Bourbon Trail tours in Kentucky, but it is still worth the time.

My husband and I stopped here for the tour and the tasting. The tour is free and very personal. This is a small place so you really get an up close and personal look at how it is all made. Our tour guide was very informative and very passionate about this place. After the tour we did the tasting -... More
