We traveled here to see the Black Dog Salvage after watching their TV show and getting hooked. They have such awesome things. We planned our trip around this visit and had a great time in Salem. We went on a Thursday and LOVED it here. You can wander around from room to room and see lots of stuff. We saw... More

There is so much to see. Plan on at least half a day to really see everything. Good prices on some items but high on others. Black Dog has some really cool things and items even showcased on their tv show. There is also another side to the shop which has various items from various venders. I picked up a... More

My hubby & I took a day trip to Roanoke just to check this place out. Thanks to Pinterest & HGTV...I had all kinds of ideas running thru my head as to what I may find once we arrived! There is stuff...everywheres...but, it's neatly organized stuff. Everything has its place, so if you are searching for one thing in particular,... More

We like to repurpose and found some great items to use in our projects. For those who want to buy already completed items, they have that too. The staff took the time to help us get exactly what we were looking for and helped load us in the wind and rain and did it all with a smile.

Kudos to our Blacksburg friends for bringing us here. An afternoon wandering the Black Dog warehouse was a treat: the architectural salvage team recalls enthusiasts of the "anonymous arts recovery league" (years ago in NYC). Their respect for unique structural artifacts of the past resonates nicely with people over 50, pleasant surprise for the younger browsers: ceilings to floors, windows... More

In the market for anything architectural? This is your spot! The huge warehouse is full of old doors, tin ceilings, stained glass, wrought iron, mirrors, furniture and anything else you might want. It's great fun to browse through. The spot and its charming owners are featured on a DIY channel show called "Salvage Dogs" that shows the salvage process at... More

Beautiful old stained glass windows, old doors, light fixtures, repurposed vintage furniture too much to list.Definitely worth the trip. The staff was very pleasant. If you don't like old stuff they have a lot of new and unique gift ideas as well. Oh... More

If you like to poke around architectural salvage and/or many wonderful little boutiques featuring a wide assortment if old stuff this place is nirvana. I could have spent most of the day there but was accompanied by males who could only tolerate about 2 hours of shopping and got hungry. Lightweights! I saw things I had never seen before; anywhere,... More

My jaw dropped when I first stepped out of the car. So much to see! I thought this place was just architectural salvage pieces, but they actually have individual vendors also who sell vintage and antique pieces. There is also an upstairs area which is mainly mantels and appliances. And an old Burger King sign. I guess they have one... More

We made a one day outing to Roanoke VA, to visit Black Dog Salvage. A long day from Greenville, NC, via back roads. So was it worth the time and effort? You bet it was. The countryside is beautiful and relaxing, and Black Dog Salvage is what you see on TV. We spoke with Mike and he explained how the... More
