So surprised at how fast and true the greens putt. Great layout that's forgiving off the tee. Challenges all skill levels. Ok clubhouse with food and beverage area. Price is fair. Acceptable pace of play. I would recommend it over the other public courses Blue Hills, Hanging Rock, and Ashely Plantation that are all within 20 minutes of downtown Roanoke.

the fairways are way too narrow, some less than 20 yards. So your ball dribbles off the fairway into the rough and then you have to step on it to find it, this rough should be mowed at least an half inch shorter so you can find the ball. Add the OB markers that have been moved in and you... More

The first nine holes are easy. The second nine are laid out very poorly. The greens are good, but I play the course only when with others and I do not have another option.

The fairways and greens are in great shape. A challenging course, so don't be mislead. Reasonable rates and players cards are available.

Great golf course for the money. Some of the best greens in the valley. An every mans course. Tight fairways and quick out of bounds areas.

Over the past few years they have made the course a lot tougher. they have let the hazards grow up and the greens get smaller. Its a long course and pretty tough playing from the tips. The greens are always in great shape but look for it to be packed due to the limited course selection in the area.

Now that Countryside golf course has been closed and that's been several years now. It doesn't leave much to choose from around Roanoke. Hanging Rock & Old Monterey. Old Monterey will be around for a while longer as long as they keep the course up.
