Attended a function there and tried a few of their reds. Years earlier, I wasn't too impressed however, the vineyard has significantly improved and its wines are top notch now. The views are tremendous and the rooms are well appointed. The staff is also very nice and accomplished in making you feel comfortable and at home. The fireplaces are a... More

The view from the outdoor patio is amazing! The indoor tasting room has a bar area and a sit-down area. We had a choice of 2 flights and chose the "summery/lighter" one, which included whites, a rose, some reds, and a dessert wine. I would say I enjoyed most of the wines I tried. Reasonably priced and the service was... More

this winery is interesting for its use of grapes that grow well in Virginia, but are not extensively used in other wineries. For example one of their best reds a 2012 called Rudy uses 50% Tannat, 30% Fer Servadou, and 20% Petit Verdot. I think that they are also one of the few wineries to have whites made from 100%... The tasting room is very nice along with the grounds, and the view is wonderful also. We tasted most of the wines offered here and found them to be about average. Most seemed to lack much body and were rather flat when compared to other vineyards in the area.

Tried the second-tier tasting flight ($10 for six or seven wines) because the flight of first-tier wines was sold out. The Chardonnay aged in acacia wood was very interesting, and we bought a bottle to show solidarity with locally produced wines. The rest were pretty average (with the Bordeaux-style blends, the problem is that you can buy a French Bordeaux... More

This is a great place to visit. Wine tastings, small meals, pretty terrace that overlooks the vineyards. Nice inside area too. Relaxing, pretty, and good wine - well worth a stop.

Came here for a tasting and they have two different kinds. The reserve tasting you have to sit at a table and serve you which is different then the typical tasting bar experience. The HV tasting us one you can stay at the bar for. Sitting down wasn't the greatest experience because once your wine was poured the server leaves... More

Really enjoyed my recent visit to "paint and sip" last month. Spacious inside and out, with live music, a bit of laughter and relaxed views all around, a Sunday afternoon at Hillsborough Vineyard seems worlds away! Enjoyed learning about the wine, sipping samples (VERY enjoyable variety!) and painting flowers on a sunny day. Servers are friendly and knowledgeable about this... More

The wines are just not that great. Very very nice people. Live music and a fun experience. Tasting pourer was very knowledgable and super enjoyable, we just weren't big fans of the wines. Three were ok and we bought two bottles to be polite.
