This was my first visit to Otium Cellars and I will not be back--at least for a few years. My first problem is that the tasting bar is so high I could barely reach the top (I'm 5'2"). Despite my shortcomings, I liked the tasting room--small but nice. The staff was very friendly. I dumped most of my wines--they were... More

The friendly service is the best aspect of this knotty- pined log cabin. It's a bit too small and a bit too loud but the wine's OK.

Enjoyed comparing some of the european gown varietals with the same now growing in VA. Wood stove and chalet style tasting rooms were cozy and fun.

The wines are German influenced, which is a little different from other area wineries. The tasting space is attractive but loud with only a few guests. The setting is very pretty.

I enjoyed the wine and the tasting. We started by trying three whites, all the same grape/type. At first I was confused, same wine different years, this should be boring. Boy was I wrong, every year was very different, very enjoyable, and it really shows how much Mother Nature and skill plays into the making of the wine. They repeated... More

My family and I were referred to this winery by another one close by. When we arrived we thought they area was beautiful. It is a pet friendly winery which we like as we love pets. The wine was good and we were able to fine several that we liked. The staff was very friendly and we noticed that you... More

My wife and I travel to Virginia wine country every year, and have for almost 10 years. This winery has so many things going for it. The wines are delicious and very accessible. This is a place where a novice wine drinker could really learn a lot. Happily, it is also pet-friendly. We were told when we came in that... More

We came to Otium with a large group (11 people) and made reservations ahead of time. They were ready for us when we arrived and we had a very nice time. They made us feel welcomed and the wine was excellent. I really liked there reds (malbec and something else with a german name that I can't pronounce). This is... More

Some of the wines are great and others not so much. Rating a vineyard on how their wines taste is very subjective. It could be that my tastes are very different from everyone else in the county. All I can really judge is the experience I had when going for a tasting. Was it a nice place? Was the staff... More

Visited Otium Cellars for the first time in March 2013. I've been to 80+ VA wineries, and Otium is now one of my favorites. They have 3 whites for tasting and many more reds. Being a bold red drinker, I was very impressed! Tasting was $10, and wines were ~20-35...some may be less. I was so excited to find a... More
