We stayed in Chesapeake on our way to OBX and spent about 3 hours at the museum. It was perfect for our 2-year old. It was clean and the staff are really hands off which allowed the kids to really explore and enjoy. Some exhibits were broken.

I have taken my two sons here twice now. They are 7 and 3. Both times we got there right when it opened, saw the 11:00 planetarium show, went to eat at The Coffee Shop across the street and then spent the rest of the day at the museum. Of the two planetarium shows we saw the one about Earth,... More

Took my two kids to this great museum while on vacation in the Chesapeake, VA area. There is a 5 yr age difference so it is hard to find activities they both enjoy. This museum had something for everyone! The section of model trains is a "trainiacs" dream!! They have art displays and creative play areas too. Highly recommend this... More

This amazing museum has interactive displays for children of all ages. New and modern displays to thrill both girls and boys. Many special events constantly changing. The planetarium is world class and will be enjoyed by adults as well. Don't miss this exciting venue.

We visited here while on vacation in the area. We had a rainy day and were looking for a place to go. We decided on the Children's Museum, and I'm glad we did. The whole family had fun, young and old alike. So many things to do and see here.

We (me, wife, 3 year old girl and 5 year old boy) visited on a Wednesday afternoon in July. Everyone had a great time. Both kids thoroughly enjoyed everything, from wall to wall. The planetarium was sold out, so we didn’t get to experience it. (I think it’s free but you have to get a ticket, and they were all... More

The museum is easy to find with a parking garage right behing it thatgoes straight into the museum courtyard entrance. The museum exhibits on the first floor were fun. It was clean and well kept with friendly staff eager to point you in the right direction in you needed something. We had free tickets to the planetarium show (just ask... More

It is set up for all ages. My grandchildren who are 3 love to go. And parents will enjoy their time too. The cost is reasonable and if you are military you get a break of the price. Great on a rainy day and there are nice places to eat near by or just to grab something to drink and... More

Spent the night in Norfolk on our way to the Outer Banks. Since our check-in was only 4PM and had time to spare, we decided to check out the Children's Museum of Virginia. Although I felt the prices were a little over the top - $11 for adults, $10 for children and seniors - my two girls (4 and 3)... More

No wonder this is the top rated attraction in Portsmouth! The front desk staff was so warm and friendly, especially Fannese. She is a wonderful example of great customer service. We brought four adults and two toddlers on our trip and this was our favorite part of our entire week long vacation. Ticket prices were cheap and there are lots... More
