I had a wonderful time with Mike and his crew. Captain Mike knows his stuff about New Zealand and he has a boat with character and class. We barely used the engine at all and sailed the majority of the time. Everyone had a chance to be a part of working the boat if they wanted to but most of... More

We really enjoyed our time on Gungha II with Mike and Melissa. We were picked up from Russell in the morning (very promptly) and joined about 10 other people on the boat. The weather wasn't ideal (cloudy and not a lot of wind), but Mike got everyone involved, and we did get to enjoy a fair amount of time under... More

Spent today with the Gungha II Crew and what a fantastic day out it was. We were very lucky to get lovely weather conditions and were under sail for most of the day, but even if this hadn't been the case I think it would have still been a great day out. A very tasty sandwich is provided for lunch... More

One of the highlights of our stay in the Bay of islands was a day sailing on the Gungha 2. Mike and staff were friendly and created a convivial and sociable atmosphere with which to enjoy the beautiful surroundings. We were fortunate to have a calm and clear day with light winds in the morning and 15 know winds on... More

It was a rather a calm day, but we still had a great time. The crew are wonderful and we had an excellent day on the water. Lots of stories and local history/information. Would definitively recommend it to anyone heading this way.

This day trip was a brilliant mix of relaxation & excitement. While on the yacht we saw copious amounts of frisky dolphins & playful penguins. Once we had sailed out to one of the islands, there was the option of swimming into shore & diving into crystal clear waters, or those more wary could kayak or boat in. This was... More

Me, my boyfriend and a friend went sailing with Mike and professional crew member, I don't remember her name. We participated in setting the sails and I got to steer the big boat by myself. It was an awesome experience. The island stop and they barefooted walk is beautiful, all though I felt a bit discomfort by walking in the... More

Awesome day on Gungha! Mike is the most amiable captain (& informed/interesting, too). To know the Bay of Isl.s, one must sail them. Mike offers the best personal experience!

Had a lovely day sailing with Mike and Debbie, thoroughly enjoyed the whole day. They obviously enjoy what they do, which makes everyone else enjoy it too! Fantastic hospitality and Mike has many hilarious stories to tell you. We were kept fed and watered and had a lovely walk to some fabulous views. Saw a few penguins along the way... More

After reviewing numerous brouchures over a couple of beverages, my wife and I decided on the Gungha ll. Mainly because my wife was nervous of being seasick and I was keen to go on a mono hull yacht. She was the largest on offer (the yacht, not my wife). There were 11 on our cruise (max 12). Left Port at... More
