Purchased their Macadamia Chocolate Crunch - haven't been the same since. Already tried their truffles once before and had to go back and try something new. Was not disappointed. Got an extra box as a gift and the receiver's eyes rolled back when they tried it. Great sign.

Matakana produces a range of delicious chocolates. It is interesting to see them being put together in a spotless kitchen. Every visitor gets a free sample worth calling in for! The packages are not cheap but very high quality.

Be prepared for an assault on the senses when you visit Makana Confections... the small of chocolate tempts the tastebuds, the beautiful displays and tasty packaging tempts the eye, the sound of the voice of the staff offering free samples... yes free samples, tantalises the ear, you will be hard pressed to keep your hands off the products and out... Not really a tourist attraction as such, just a glass wall through which viewers can see the manufacturing being done. But well worth a visit if you're partial to chocolates and want to buy some. Quality is high but the chocolates, apart from the popular Macadamia Crunch, are small and very expensive.

As soon as you walk in the door you are welcomed with a free sample, we were offered a piece of Macadamia Butter Toffee Crunch. The chances of me walking out of there without buying it were second to none. Be warned the shop contains some seriously delicious items so unless you have a dollar or two on you, don't... More

When we walked in we were greeted by a girl with a free sample - absolutely irresistable. The Macadamia Toffee was just melt in the mouth, and I bought a huge bag of Mac Brittle which was also a delight. Don't miss it, very special food.

What a way to start a culinary tour of wine tasting and eating in an area of NZ blessed with rich soil and mild subtropical climate. Bay of Islands and Paihia in particular are noted for their seafood, citrus, avocados, olive oils, vegetables and rich pastures for livestock .... And amazing scenery. On the way to Kerikeri we stopped at... More

Stopping on our way back from hiking the nearby falls, we stopped here to taste some freebies. Sucked in to buying some due to how "gobsmacked" we were, we got the Macadamia Toffee and the Cranberry macadamia toffee, wow! but not cheap! We also got to watch them make some fudge. Would recommend this as a stop, tho be prepared... More
