Fully hosted, visit four vineyards, enjoy a lovely vineyard lunch and visit an Olive Grove or take the 'Pinot to Palliser Bay' tour for something different. This tour goes to the fishing village of Ngawi and the seal colonies at Cape Palliser. Enjoy a gourmet picnic lunch on the beach and a beer or coffee at the historic Lake Ferry Hotel. All tours are conducted in luxury vehicles hosted by a local who knows the region intimately. This is your opportunity to go behind the scenes, meet winemakers and producers not normally available to the general public, while at the same time tasting the fantastic produce and wines of the region. « less

We decided to treat ourselves to a private wine tour, and we did not regret it. Picked up from our hotel on time and driven around in a very comfortable car with Simon, our guide, who was friendly, knowledgable and flexible. I think we visited seven wineries in all, including a delightful tour and lunch provided at Murdoch James. The... More

Did our own thing in the vineyards - so easy with so many within walking distance of the central square, but picked up this tour to the wild Cape Palliser to see more of the country round about. Simon was an excellent guide explaining the culture and customs of the area. We were able to stand within a few feet... More

Visiting Wellington for a weekend to celebrate my best friend's 40th, five blokes decided to do a full day wineries tour on Saturday with Martinborough Wine Tours. We were blessed with the most amazing sunny warm April day and the trip up on the train to Featherston was a breeze. Simon was our host, picked us up from the station... More

Went on a winetour today with Simon being our host. Simon told us a lot about the Martinborough history, wines and vineyards. We had a laugh, we learned a lot and - most of all - tasted some delicious wines. Although it was a rainy day in the sun, the wines made it one happy day.

We had the most amazing day with Jill and Roger from Martinborough Wine Tours. We visited 3 different wineries, and the icing on the cake was then visiting Jill and Roger's winery and getting a very personal and in-depth tour. They are so knowledgeable about wine, the area, and everything else that you could want to know on an amazing... More

We spent our first day of 2013 with Jill and Roger. They were magnificient hosts, first picking us up in Wellington, than sharing their city and finally sharing their vineyard. We really enjoyed their company. The wines were the proverbial icing on the cake. If you enjoy wine, you need to experience these wines and if you appreciate hospitality, than... More

Martinborough - Wairarapa wine region Only a stones throw from Wellington, either over the Rimutaka mountain range via car/campervan or through it via a train then bus from Featherston, Martinborough is a wine lovers dream. Picture Blenheim but on a smaller scale, with all cellar doors within a 20km radius. If you are staying on the immaculately kept Top 10... More

It was extremely easy to get the train from Wellington to Featherston, where the bus connection was waiting to take us all to Martinborough. The town is very small and can be walked around in minutes. All of the signposts from the main square point you towards your chosen destination whether it is vineyards or olive orchards. All of the... More

Four of us did the 'Martinborough In A Day' tour and had a fantastic time. We were picked up from Featherstone railway station by our guide, Simon, after which we went and had a coffee and cake before heading off to the first of four wineries. Simon, a Martinborough local, was fun and entertaining and was able to answer any... More
