One of the largest and most impressive information centres around. Good to visit on your way out also, as they have a range of local produce for last minute gifts etc. The history in paving is quite different and has stood the test of time since its installation.

The service was OK. Park fees can be paid by card. Not much information about saving wild life or driving carefully on roads etc. This place has good toilets :)

Stop here for all the information on what is happening and where. The information is updated with daily and monthly information sheets for visitors to take. A great selection of KI produce and products available for sale.

About 500m from the ferry terminal at Penneshaw, great place to get oriented to the island. We found the staff to be very knowledgeable and helpful, with useful tips on what to look out for on the island. i also witnessed their patience while I was waiting to be served - some people do ask some very strange questions. They... More

Up the hill, down the hill, and half-way up the next hill. . . a one hour walk. Small concession area and outside there are bathrooms. Only 2 vans for transportation and no cars to rent.

We had read in the Kangaroo Island Visitor Guide (page 77) that we could obtain a Guide to disabled services at the Kangaroo Island Gateway Visitor Information Centre at Penneshaw. We felt that the woman who served us was not very interested in us and was quite perfunctory. We asked as to whether there was a bird tour guide. She... More

Is very close to the ferry, so worth stopping by as you arrive on Kangaroo Island. Has some gifts and souvenirs which are quite good and mostly locally made. You can buy a parks pass here, which allows you to take in all the major areas such as seal bay, Flinders Chase National Park, Cape Willoughby Lighthouse. Gives local road... More

The centre itself was starting to look rundown, things where overpriced. However, the staff where helpful and it has a good collecrion of information on the island, and some interesting artifacts. We where provided with a great list of tourism attractions and their regions, but not there adresses or phone numbers so we couldnt put them into our GPS to... More
