Love walking down the canal in summer so peaceful and calm. Like to look at the locks all the way along the canal and also seeing the barges in the summer.

Last Year I attended a number of events on the Rochdale Canal during their annual festival. They held at least 50 attractions for people of all ages and at all times of the day and night. I particularly enjoyed the Lantern Parade in Todmorden and exploring the underground canals in Manchester. I will be looking to go again this year...

I regularly walk from Litleborough station along the canal towards Yorkshire, fantastic scenery as the canal rises & then falls over the pennines. You can stop at Walsden, Todmorden, Hebden Brige, Sowerby Bridge, Mythomroyd, Sowerby bridge and further. All of these places have a train station so you can start finish anywhere and get the train back. Lots of places...

The whole experience, but most memorable was Grandma Pollards chippie which must be the best in Britain
The Rochdale Canal crosses the rugged heights of the Pennines from Manchester to Sowerby Bridge. The steep climb means lots of locks and an exhausting but exhilarating journey with stunning views.
For boaters, this canal is a peaceful place to escape the crowds. The towpath is probably the easiest walking route through the Pennines, taking you into the heart of...

Like a lot of places in Littleborough, there is a real problem with dog fouling. There is no seperate bike path and they just seem to come out of nowhere. Not a safe place either in certtain parts as reported in the local paper when a man was mugged for his bike!
Easy walking with extensive views over open countryside. Lots of locks all along the canal, but not many boats at the time we were there
The canal towpath offers leisurely walks - one leading to Hollingworth Lake Country Park. Popular with walker, cyclists and dog walkers. The section running behind Queensway has a litter problem but could be attractive if it was tidied up.
We go walking along here we used to have a canal boat but had to sell it as we all work long hours.Pleasant place to go to plenty of space.and a nice canal to travel down .
Lovely stroll along the canal from Todmorden to Grandma Pollards Old world Cafe, at the side of the canal in Walsden (i think about an hours walk) is well recommended. The food's top drawer but don't forget to pack a rain-coat.
