I don't approve of this bridge I was born locally and am not impressed at all It's doesn't serve any purpose but it must mean a lot to those that built it so I respect their feelings and hope they enjoy it

Both my wife and I work in Castleford and have been over it. Not a lot to say really-interesting architecture-good view of the river and old shipwreck(or 'barge' wreck). Well worth seeing if you ever visit Castleford. Its obviously free so great value for money! Really close to Carlton Lanes Shopping Centre too so good for shops and market etc.... More

The Castleford Bridge is a very nice bridge over the River Aire. It is just off the roundabout from Carlton Lanes Shopping Centre. There is an old boat stood there in the water that must have crashed years and years ago. You don't have to pay to cross it, so that is always good. It is good to bring a... More

This is simply a bridge next to a disused flour mill that attracts people feeding gulls and pigeons. It is a short cut home and it gives you a feeling of content watching the river flow past. There is a sunken barge that is visible most days and when you can`t see it start to worry as the river is... More

I have to agree with unathletico's comments below, i suppose its nice as bridges go but the crossing which was placed for people to cross when the bridge was built creates absolute traffic chaos at anytime of the day.

Look left, you can see houses, look right, you can see some of the town, look down you can see the river. On the plus side you can go up to xscape and have some fun. Gets 5/5 for value as you don't have to pay to use it

A modern bridge across the busy river saves using the road bridge which is very busy for the people of Castleford. It really fits in with the surroundings worth a look if in the area.

The old masonry arches are an historic crossing of the river Calder. The bridge can be appreciated from the new footbridge.

I loved standing on the new bridge at Castleford. The force of the water off the weir was amazing. You could feel the power and the noise was tremendous. The town centre isn't too far away either, only a five minute walk away so you could make an afternoon of it.

Nice to sit, albeit nothing special its is handy for the residents of Castleford, no scenry to admire, but if you like modern things ok to see, wouldnt make a day out to see though
