I've been over this bridge many times as I live nearby, but only once or twice have I sat to admire it. The walk is very good as you can sit down and see the old flour mill and the shipwreck that has been there for many years. Worth a visit.

Beautiful bridge but what for there's a bridge over the same river 200 yards away.causing no end of congestion,in a space of 500 yards there's 2 roundabouts and 3 sets of traffic lights, all to accommodate the bridge.Beautiful but not required money wasted.

A fantastic walk and a must for anyone wanting to take photos. The look of the old flour mill is amazing and the old boat in the river is not to be missed. Amazing. X

This bridge is a superb piece of architecture joining two sides of Castleford. It creates a good view of the area, and is close to the centre of the town. It was highlighted a few years ago by TV as an unusual structure, which of course it is. If you are visiting Castleford it is definitely well worfth a visit

Had a walk over the bridge out of curiosity and was so pleased that I did.The view of the old flour mill and the gushing of the weir below combined with the old sunken barge which had become wedged underneath gave this a unique experience. The residents on the far side must find the bridge very useful rather than having... More

Take time to get away from the daily grind , get on the bridge and feel the peace and views, it's free and there all year round.

I don't approve of this bridge I was born locally and am not impressed at all It's doesn't serve any purpose but it must mean a lot to those that built it so I respect their feelings and hope they enjoy it

Both my wife and I work in Castleford and have been over it. Not a lot to say really-interesting architecture-good view of the river and old shipwreck(or 'barge' wreck). Well worth seeing if you ever visit Castleford. Its obviously free so great value for money! Really close to Carlton Lanes Shopping Centre too so good for shops and market etc.... More

The Castleford Bridge is a very nice bridge over the River Aire. It is just off the roundabout from Carlton Lanes Shopping Centre. There is an old boat stood there in the water that must have crashed years and years ago. You don't have to pay to cross it, so that is always good. It is good to bring a... More

This is simply a bridge next to a disused flour mill that attracts people feeding gulls and pigeons. It is a short cut home and it gives you a feeling of content watching the river flow past. There is a sunken barge that is visible most days and when you can`t see it start to worry as the river is... More
