Super impressive ride up the mountain with breath taking views!! First the very steep feniculaire train then the small access train and finally the small feniculaire train up to the Emosson barrage and the views to the Mont Blanc and the alps!!

A rugged, narrow-roaded drive was almost a rehearsal for the funicular-train-funicular ascent up to the Emosson Dam. Tickets for the newly-reopened Verticalp are needed at all points, so hold on tight to them as the journey starts its steep climb. It is the steepest funicular in the world. On the first landing, one can have refreshments and look at the... More

All the way up the val de Bagnes: beautiful aby time of yet. I have skied up to the barrage in the winter, hike there in the spring fall and summer. I've also hike around the lake in the summer, it was a grueling hike and i highly recommend it! Not too much elevation but very long. You can easily... More

The colour of this artificial lake is outstanding. It surpasses many natural lakes in the Alps. Looks like the water is totally glacial giving it this bluish green colour.

Great views and great experience on funicular and train, all working. Half price Swiss card gave us a discount . Can be cold by dam but nice sunny terrace by restaurant. If you want to walk further around to say the caban you have to take a bus there and back and then walk up. They reckon on 5 hours... More

Beautiful dam and views over the Mont Blanc massif!! The funicular isn't in service and they are working on the Vieux Emmosson which is higher up one of the valleys but is reached via the dam, so there is some disruption and noise. When we went there was a bus service across the dam and up to Le Vieux Emmosson,... More

The 3 mode of transport are amazing ,beautiful scenery , but beware once at the top you have 3 sets of scaffolding stairs which are not suitable for dogs ,prams or people with walking sticks , also once on the other side of the dam the path is badly marked and difficult with small children ( not child friendly )... Made the trip from Chamonix by train to find the funicular railway closed and no apparent way up to the dam so took the train back. Waste of 40 euros. Had been on le Chatelard.net website which does not mention this. Very poor

Little train and walk back down. Pity the main funicular isn't open as you need to get the bus from the bottom station to the barrage. Don't know when it is re opening. With this it makes it a great round trip.
