Made the trip from Chamonix by train to find the funicular railway closed and no apparent way up to the dam so took the train back. Waste of 40 euros. Had been on le Chatelard.net website which does not mention this. Very poor

Little train and walk back down. Pity the main funicular isn't open as you need to get the bus from the bottom station to the barrage. Don't know when it is re opening. With this it makes it a great round trip.

The drive up has been hard but arriving up there!!! Fantastic! it was in August but still snow on the montains around, Lake was full and beautiful. Visit visit this superb place!

The dam and lake of Emosson are simply one of the most specacular in the Swiss Alps! You can reach it either by car (if no snow) or by funicular (very impressive with 87% slope!) or by legs! Typical dam in the alps. Acces by road or by train, Undergoing major works, the lake is now empty.
