On Saturday, 14th June 2014 we had the opportunity to be one of the first to travel from Vallorcine to Chamonix on the reopened train service. No more bus trip to Argentierre. There was a special celebration on the platform at Vallorcine to celebrate the reopening of this service as it has been some time since this was possible. Get... More

While the first half of the journey is pretty scenic, the train currently isn't plying directly from Martigny to Chamonix Mont Blanc. We had to take a bus from a godforsaken station to another deserted station, plus the frequency of the bus as well as connecting train is bad.

We started out in Lauterbrunnen in the morning, heading to Berne, Lausanne then Martigny. When we got to Martigny we looked for the platform and schedule which we found and were very confused by. It looked like the Mont Blanc train which we had read so much about was actually a train to Vallorcine then a full hour wait until... More

French side rail works that have been going on for some time makes this a long journey interrupted by bus journeys. Check to see if work is complete. Get to Chamonix early if you want to go up to Mont Blanc

This was a really cool way of getting from Chamonix in France to Martigny in Switzerland. Instead of going to Geneva, I hopped on the bus from Chamonix Mont Blanc station (at present there is a bus that takes you from Chamonix to Vallorcine to reconnect with the train). It is incredibly cheap for the wonderful little trip it provides.... More

We chose to take the Mont-Blanc Express to Chamonix from Martigny rather than drive but had we known that it stopped at Le Chatelard & we were all shuffled off onto a bus, we would have driven. There were no staff at Le Chatelard to assist with when & which bus we were to take, confusion rained. The half trip... More

OK, up to Chamonix, sit on the left, down back to Martigny, grab a right seat. Note that at present, there is a bus service from Le Chatelard to Chamonix. This should stop by December 2012

With this train you'll have wonderful views all the way from Saint-Gervais-les-Bains-le-Fayet (France) to Martigny (Switzerland), via Chamonix. Note that for people staying in the Servoz / Les Houches / Chamonix / Argentière / Vallorcine area in France, local trips between Servoz and Vallorcine are free. So in addition to its scenic route, this railway is very convenient for local... More

After living in Switzerland for couple of years it is obvious that Switzerland has mny mountains and prices are expensive. And Mont-Blanc Express is not exception, HOWEVER IT IS WORTH IT! We went there in middle of February when mountains are covered with snow and journey becoems exicting when you are railing next to the edge of a cliff. Journey... More
