Very bad customer service starting with front desk staff. We had booked the 4:30 English tour at 11am and at that time booked 2 basic tastings and 1 premium tasting. When we arrived for the tour we were told, in a snotty tone, that the premium tasting wasn't available. "Even tho I already purchased it" I asked? Yes was the... More

Fine building and good guide made for a great visit. Not to mention the tasting after! The shop is fine but did not buy on site.

We were a large group but the well informed guide, who spoke excellent English, regaled us with fascinating facts from the history of this port house well known to us since childhood. We were conducted past huge vats and barrels of port in different stages of maturation. It gave me a deeper appreciation of dear old port and its varieties... More

Very reasonable price and the tours run very often in many different languages. The little museum at the front gives a great background and all the items on display are very interesting to learn about. The guide has her speech down and gives enough information without getting boring. It was great to walk through the cellar with all the barrels... More

Book the full experience if you can. You will have 3 additional Portos to taste and they are absolutely worth it. The tour was informative and enjoyable. Try to go with a small group, you will get more personal interaction.

As a group of 10 people of mixed ages I didn't want to turn up and have to wait a long time or be grouped with lots of languages, so I phoned ahead and they made a booking for us and we had a great informative tour as well as tasting afterwards without the hustle and bustle that others talk... If your not a port wine expert, you will be closer to understanding this sweet wine after this comprehensive visit. It feels and is corporate but covers all the basics. First, a small but interesting display room reviewing their history. Then a walking tour followed by a tasting. You will be able to sign up for several different tastings, some... More

For those who know nothing about port and would like to learn all the Lodges do visits, the Sandeman Lodge is professionally run and the tastings are priced by the number of ports you wish to try.
