It takes a longer drive. Watch out, there is one main road in and out, and police is almost always there hunting for tourists, so dont drink and drive. The scenery is beautiful, take the more extensive degustation and you leave the place cooked :) The shop is quite expensive so I'd recommend to buy the bottles in Porto.

An enjoyable tour of the Sandeman wine cellars which ended with the sampling of a couple of Ports. To be honest I was still drunk from the night before and couldn't tell you what they tasted like, but probably pretty good. My favourite part of the tour was the gift shop where I purchased a poster of the iconic 'Don'... More

Great tour. Highly recommend going for the top package at 16E and trying all the Ports on offer (five they give). I would also recommend the cocktail station outside the front door!! Amazing port cocktails!

Fantastic tour of the port winery steeped in history. Very informative and well organised with different language tours. All finished off nicely with 2 glasses of the result of the process, a must if visiting this beautiful historic city

This is the best Port Winery Tour, wines as old as 1904 are held here. The tour is extremely well presented with full extensive explanations of the Sandeman Port Wine history. Like, Sandeman invented branding in 1792, and he was a Scot too. This is worth the tour, just do the €6 classic tour with two glasses at the end.... More

We went with a group of 25 people for an evening tour. The guide was speaking very good English, very knowledgeable about Port wine, the vineyards and the history of the company. After the tour we tasted the white port and the ruby and then did some shopping and having a lovely dinner upstairs.

As Port Novices, my mother and I thoroughly enjoyed this tour. At about 30 minutes, it was just enough time to gain some knowledge without being overwhelmed with information. Our guide was knowledgeable and friendly and knew how to manage the group and keep the tour moving. We finished with a tasting of two types of Port. As the tours... More

We found the tour to be pleasant and informative. We had the Visita Classica at 6 Euros each and therefore rounded off by two pleasant ports. If we had paid more we could have had more ports.

We had prebooked the 1790 tour with five tastings for the next day. On arrival we found we were on the same tour as those who had only paid the 2 tasting classic tour. Our guide was young but knowledgable, wearing the obligatory hat and cloak, and the tour was very interesting, but apart from tasting 3 additional ports to... More

We don't like port wine, but we really enjoyed learning about how it is made and how long it is fermented. We had an excellent tour guide, who didn't rush us and who gave us time to ask questions at the end of the tour. We didn't know that there is such a thing as white port. I will have... More
