Great port house. Nice little tour with good information, especially about the brand. Really liked the tasting room and the port. The ruby reserve (not on the standard tour tasting menu, we bought it extra before) was really really nice. Well worth the visit.

Our tour guide was nothing more than a robot, she clearly had learned a speech and was poorly delivering it to us. It was so obvious in the way she talked that she had done this routine far too many times and was sick of it. The cellars looked nice and are a piece of history in Porto, but I... More

The classic tour at Sandeman caves costs just as low as 5€. A guide will take you trough the facilty, showing you the entire wine aging method. At the end of the tour you'll be tasting two glasses of porto, the white one and the ruby one.

Out of four visits to port houses in Porto, I had most looked forward to Sandeman's and was most disappointed by the tour and the wines. Because I'm seriously interested in wines, I decided to sign up for the 1790 tour, a 15 euro experience that was supposed to be an enhanced visit. Instead of something special, after the 5... More

We visited two Porto houses: Taylor's and Sandeman. Whereas Taylor's is no nonsense, with a bit more technical info from an expert guide (and for my taste better Porto samples after the tour), the Sandeman tour is a very enjoyable experience as well. The tour is very complete and accessible, you learn a lot but are completely immersed in the... More

We drove by Sandeman to visit the Quinta literally right next door named the Quinta da Pacheco, one of the highlights of our Duoro valley visit. After searching extensively to find a place to write a review for ths small but wonderful winery, we thought it best to dovetail with a neighboring winery. We were fortunate to be there end... More

Disapointment...a brand that is known all over the world...however they do little to deserve the international fame. The visit was guided by a lady that speaks bad german. We had difficulties to understand her. The group was disapointed...we expected a more informative visit...after all the vsits are not for free. You can notice that we are talking about mass production... More

On my last day of visiting Porto, I decided to go and visit Sandeman's. We visited the cellar and found out interesting things about how the wine is made and what means that a bottle is 20 years old, for example. :) We learned about the history of the brand and the visit ended with a wine tasting...pretty good wine.... The one port house we wanted to visit in Porto was Sandeman’s, it was the first port we ever had and the one that got us hooked. According to their website, it was supposed to be open daily, and available in English. After a tour of the city, and lunch, they were still closed for lunch so we killed time... More

As part of the typical visit you get to visit the cave and listen to the story of the port house, and then you will be able to try the port which is included with the tour ( 2 kinds). You can try more, but all different ports priced individually. Couple of things to keep in mind: 1. This is... More
