For €6 I joined an English speaking guide for a tour around the cellar which took about 30 mins and I found it quite fun and informative. The guide spoke very good English. At the end we tasted 2 different types of port wines.

This was part of a bus/river trip package and was an interesting tour of the cellars where the vats of port are stored. The guide was informative and we had tasting of two types of port.

A most enjoyable tour thro' time and the 'mechanics' of making and appreciating that nectar called port. Little did I know beforehand, the knowledge I lacked. Our guide, Tomas (?) was friendly, informative and enthusiastic, a good combination. At the end of the tour, there was a tasting of white and tawny ports, a Calem specialisation. Best of all, there... More

Very fact-heavy, captivating English tour with a short but sweet tasting at the end. Makes the yellow bus (all-inclusive(?)) ticket deal that much more worth it.

We took the 18:30 tour because as well as a tour of the establishment it included a port wine tasting and a Fado performance. The tour went well, it was very informative. Everything was explained well by our English speaking guide. Our group was the last to arrive in the tasting hall where we sat on long tables to sample... More

This was part of a combined ticket with the Yellow Bus and River Cruise. We were lucky and arrived about 13.30 to be told the next English tour was 15.00 so we went for lunch and returned at 15.00. The tour guide was very good and gave us plenty of port facts in an entertaining way. The tasting of two... More

Our guide was a funny Spanish guy who explained how Porto wine is made, a bit of history and a good experience. At the end we had the tasting (1 white 1 red). Excellent wine and the guide was also very helpful when we asked for some suggestions about which wines to buy.

I am a Port wine lover and my desire to know more about port wine took me to Porto on the mouth of the river Douro, one of major river of the Iberian peninsula. Porto traditionally has been hub for export of wines from Douro Valley to rest of the World. The Calem Wine Cellar tour was part of the... More

Not sure if this is the real thing but the guide provided some very useful facts about the growing and processing of the grapes for the port

The tour is only 6Euro and it was part of my bus ticket, make sure you go in and find out when your language tour is on. English was just twice per day. The tours was interesting, but the 2 ports we tasted were not particularly nice. I would have picked this tasting even if i hadn't have had it... More
