If you are going to the Calem Caves then I recommend the evening tour where you can enjoy the informative tour followed by a Port Wine tasting and Fado performance in the barrel room. The performance was only about an hour & half but featured a man & woman solo each then a duet. Good value for money 17.5Ɛ when... More

I'd read a few reviews, that didn't say very many good things about this place, but I was on limited time, and wanted photo's of the barrels, and they had a tour starting in few minutes.... In Portuguese, which I don't speak a word of. This was fine by me,I only wanted to take some photos, and say I'd been.... More

A very charming tour, somewhat hurried, but still well-worth the time and nominal charge. Trust me -- if you don't bring back twice as many bottles of port as you think you can carry, you'll be sorry. It's the nectar of the gods (enjoy the white ports -- I had never had them before, and they're delicious).

We popped into a couple of different port houses and kept missing the English tours. When we checked at Calem, the tour was starting in fifteen minutes. We decided to wait as we were leaving the next day. By the time the tour guide called us, there was a sizeable group of us- maybe 25-30. To my mind, this is... More

The visit to the Calém wine cellars is perfect, very well organized and informative, and it never gets boring. It is excellent for those who need to know a bit more about Port and all its varieties. The staff is extremely attentive and courteous and the wine is superb. 5 stars all the way.

The English guide was very good and gave us a comprehensive jist about Port wine. All the ladies working here are very polite and warm. Wine tasting was fun!!a global event! Feel well informed about Ruby, Tawny and Rose wine. Must visit and do the rounds.

There's really no surprises when you visit a winery or a port wine "lodge" since the basic process of making wine is surely known to you. So what you want is a tour that gives you a little history of the particular company and their product(s)...and of course some tastes. The Calem tour meets these expectations. Our guide was informative,... More

There are quite a number of this kind of wine tasting tour in Gaia and Calem is one of them. Frankly, it's not as good as the others. Same 5 Euro charge but the tour itself is not great (though the guide had done his job quite well) and the two glasses of port are of lower quality. Look around... More

There are several Port Caves to visit in Porto - We chose the Calem Caves. There is a charge and the tour of the caves are are organised to a pre-ordained time shcedule, the tour was very informative as you would probably expect, at the end of the tour there is a relaxed and informal tasting session, very enjoyable and...
