on a nice day, we toured the naval base. on the way we lucked out with USS Bataan in drydock out of the water in front of us up close. We also lucked out to see the USS Cole, famous for the terror attack. The destroyer was at a nearby yard under routine maintenance repair. Two giant cargo container ships... More

This was a great experience! We took the Victory Rover for a tour of the Port of Norfolk. Although a rainy, dreary day, we were still able to see USS Harry S. Truman, USS Cole, Battleship Wisconsin, and other amphibious assault ships. The crew was very knowledgeable!

This is an exciting, and for most, the only way to see the ships docked at the Norfolk Naval Base. If you've never seen an aircraft carrier up close, this is the trip for you. For nearly 20 minutes, you hear all about not only the ships but sites and history along the way. We were thrilled to see the... More

Very cool trip around the ship yards in Norfolk, focusing on the naval yards. The ship's captian can identify all of the naval ships and you get fairly close where it is easy to take pictures. The upper deck is better in my opinion but it is open and can be cold depending on the time of year. The day... More

This was a great experience whether you are alone, with family, spouse, friend, etc. Extremely informative of past history in the bay as well as current industries and waterside companies. The narrator (I think it was the captain), was fluent in all aspects from safety on-board, to courteous service and informational stories. He even told us of ships that had... More

This 2 hour tour is just long enough for the seafaring and non-seafaring alike. Most importantly, it is narrated - filled with interesting and informative facts about the fascinating shipping events and buildings in the Norfolk Harbor. The ship is comfortable, has a snack shack, upper outside deck, lower enclosed deck, and regular bathrooms. The fact-filled narration was terrific, especially... More

Our group of four was touring the Williamsburg area and viewing mostly historic attractions. That is not really my thing but I did convince them to take the two-hour cruise of the Norfolk Harbor. The Captain was very knowledgeable and did a great job of narrating what we were passing by as we made the cruise. Comparing the cost of... More

A very informative cruise from Norfolk to the Newport Roads. The boat is very clean and offers outdoor seating upstairs with an air-conditioned cabin below with big windows. Great for those with an interest in ships getting in very close to the largest naval base in the world.

The Victory Rover is a Naval Base Cruise Ship and is located on the banks of the Elizabeth River near the center of downtown Norfolk, Virginia. The ship was docked next to the Nauticus National Maritime Center on Waterside Drive. The Victory Rover can carry up to 150 people but was only about 20% full when we were aboard. The... More
