My wife and I took an afternoon cruise on a nice Saturday in August. We had a wonderful time! Amazingly enough it wasn't crowded at all. Rain was in the forecast and it did sprinkle just a little, but it was a wonderful trip, especially since there were approx. 10 guests on the entire boat trip. We had the boat... More

I was in Norfolk for a tradeshow the first week of September. Our group went out on a Thursday evening. It was a wonderful experience from start to finish. All of the staff were outstanding in their jobs. There was one employee who really stood out though; I belive his name is Connor. He was attentive, engaging and very enjoyable... More

Cruising the Elizabeth River under sail at sunset with a cold craft brew in your hand has got to be the best way to end a hard day at work. The crew of the American Rover delivered an outstanding experience. Great food, entertainment and, did I forget to mention, locally-sourced craft beers make this a trip worth taking. Once the... We really enjoyed our time aboard the American Rover. Staff was EXTREMELY friendly. Boat was very clean. What a nice way to be on the water and see the sunset. The added bonus was a very fun guitar/singer on board that really made the trip pleasant. I will take friends when they visit. Highly recommend.

After a long day of moving our son, we decided to take a harbor cruise! A wonderful result! This vessel is beautiful and the sunset cruise was wonderful! The crew were very friendly and helpful, the narration was just perfectly full of information, and the musician on July 1st was great! It was such a nice and relaxing ride on... More

I really like fireworks and I really don't like crowds so much. So how do you meet both needs? Pay a little cash and get on the American Rover! We boarded around 6:45 and set sail up the Elizabeth River around 7;30. The crew unfurled the sails and away we sailed. The captain gave a running commentary - not bothersome,... More

I bought this offer through Living Social at half off, so for $25 for two people, it was definitely worth a try! We arrived a little later to board the sailboat but pretty easily found seats near the front of the boat. Caveat: along with a few other young couples, we were some of the youngest people on the boat... More

My wife and I decided to take the afternoon cruise on Sunday. Was one of the last cruises of the season and we were not disappointed. Very relaxing cruise around the historic bay and lots of interesting things to see. The crew were great and very attentive to your needs. The Captain of this beautiful ship really knew the local... I received an offer for half off, so at $25 for two people, how could I go wrong? I bought this 2 hour cruise for myself and my husband. I have been on sailboats before and when I saw pictures of the ship, I knew right away that it wouldn't be like any sailboat ride I had been on before.... More

We like to take these sunset cruises whenever we're in a port city. This was one of the best. The captain and crew were very friendly and professional. We sailed past all of the important elements in our part of the Elizabeth River: the dry docks, the coal depot, parts of the naval base, etc. On the inbound portion of... More
