A bit cold for my taste... Norfolk Naval Base is well-equipped with over three athletic facilites, big NEX & commissary complex, and other MWR attractions (movies, sailing, etc.). Traffic however, is not so pleasant - dreadful tunnel driving.

My husband and I went to the Navel Base two out of our three days in Norfolk, Va. We toured the museum and the battle ship Wisconsin, we even grabbed a bite to eat in the deli. We enjoyed our trip so much we went back the next day and made a stop buy the gift shop as well.
We were priviledged to be given a tour of the Norfolk Naval Station in Norfolk, Virginia. The naval bolsen's mate that gave the narrated tour did an excellent job and added a great deal of humorous character to her presentation. We were not allowed to take photos of the shipyard and vessels in port, but could when we were away...

Definitely the best part of the trip to Norfolk, well, besides the best tour, was this tour of the base. It was run out of the visitor center near gate 5. The tour was about an hour and it went through the base, all the while describing the history, buildings, and ships on the base. The staff was great to...

Great tour to show our kids a part of history, a part of the military life and a part of our lives when my husband was in the Navy based in Norfolk. The young sailor was funny, entertaining and had tidbits of knowledge about the base. Sadly, he was too young to have had experience about being on any ships...

I am not American. My relative took my family and me to this attraction knowing I love Naval Ships and I work with ocean going oil tankers. It was mind blowing . We took the boat ride around the base , got to see all the submarines, air craft carriers, and other naval vessels. I saw a few fighter jets...

I took the bus tour offered at the Norfolk naval station. It was a good bus tour, but our tour guide was brand-new and wasn't very humorous or knowledgeable about the things on the tour. The bus was comfortable and climate controlled. There is no walking involved...only riding. The tour guide tells you when you are allowed to take pictures.
I work for the Navy so this is really just another routine visit for me. The base is huge and hard to find the places you need to go. If you are on a tour then it might be a different story as they have just about every type of vessel docked there ranging from carriers to submarines, I can...

So Proud and So Honored to be a resident of the terrific city that houses Norfolk Naval Base. I am impressed with the professionalism, cleanliness and the sheer aw every time I pull in to the base. Thank you to our Service Members.
I was stationed at Norfolk Naval Base from 2008-2010 (CVN 69). Your average base with average things. Not much to do other then go to C9 (Internet Cafe) or stay out to sea all of the time. More industrial stuff then anything (I don't know of any welcome centers or small museums that could be on base).
