I had the pleasure of joining Velia De Angelis and Gianluca Antoniella for a day's cooking adventure at Borgo Fontanile, a charming B&B in the countryside near Orvieto. Velia is a joy to watch in the kitchen: animated, fun, down-to-earth and innovative. She surrounded herself with gracious and entertaining friends who assisted, including Gianluca and the folks who run Borgo... more

My partner Pete and I spent a lovely day with Velia and Gianluca. Both are so welcoming and fun to be with. Velia makes you feel as if already a great friend as soon as you meet her. We also had some wonderful food and left with very full stomachs. We are already planning a return visit with an idea... more

Last summer my family and I were fortunate enough to spend a day with Velia in her kitchen. We began the day with pane, panini, brioche, cornetti, marmellata, cappuccino, and strong espresso. Then after introductions and a leisurely breakfast, we got right to work. We learned the very essence of Italian cooking from a master. Soon my kids, Katharine, age... more

We stayed in Orvieto in May 2009 for 5 nights and wanted to do a cooking class. I asked Valentina (Valentina's B&B--great place to stay in Orvieto) for a recommendation, as well as another company I was in touch with and they recommended Velia's. I got in touch with Velia through email and arranged a one day class at Borgo... more

Found Velia and Gianlucca on the internet just days prior to visiting Orvieto in September 2008. Arranged a surprise for my wife, something she's always wanted: Italian Cooking School. I decided to send myself too. What a joy. Instructions were clear, preparation was fun, eating the results: indescribable. Found out that they also visit the US and booked them to... more

My husband and I took Velia's cooking class in October. It was wonderful. My husband was a little reluctant to take a cooking class but he totally enjoyed it. We already have made two of the recipes we made with Velia since we returned home. Velia and GianLucca are just wonderful and fun. Great teachers and entertainers. The food was... more

From the moment we met Velia we felt like we knew her for years. Not only is she an excellent chef but she is a great tour guide as well. In addition to an unforgettable day of cooking in her home, Velia took us on a tour of the town of Orvieto; the dying town an olive mill a vineyard... more
