Well worth a visit. Magnificent gardens and beautiful views. Easy to get a bus there, don't bother with organised trips. More

Despite high normal cost of 12 euro with few discounts this was a great few hours spent in a beautiful garden. Accessible for wheelchairs ( I'd phone ahead) and with good shop, cafe and facilities this was a very enjoyable visit. We stayed for the 5-6 pm piano concert at an extra 8 euro and whilst we enjoyed the performance... More

On my recent stay in Naples I decided to visit the Island of Ischia and in particular the gardens of the late Sir William and Lady Walton,Giardini La Mortella near Forio. I took the hydrofoil from Molo Beverello to port Ischia the journey was very pleasant (if a little noisy) taking about 1hour and costing 17 euro's each way, at... More

The garden's creation was done with loving care. It feels as if you are in rooms in a house, with just the right decorator's touch. Relax by the fountains or climb the stairs to visit the aviary. There is a concert hall holding classical music concerts on the summer weekends. I enjoyed this visit immensely. More

I have long wanted to visit this special garden created by the late composer Sir William Walton and his Argentinian wife Susannah. It is situated high on the tiny island of Ischia, off the Sorrentine coast of Italy, so last June my husband and I spent a week in Sorrento and on my birthday took a day trip across the... More

Allow at least a couple of hours to tour this most beautiful garden. It is built on a cliff so its quite hilly but around every corner is something wonderful. Pools and waterfalls/fountains, frogs and birds. Its very peaceful. More

A lovely spot to spend some hours! Abundance of flowers - from orchids to lotus to the tiniest little flower..........Many impressing trees, a few nice fountains. And a tranquil atmoshphere. There are a bar/restaurant, but also nice picnic spots. And nice places to sit down, enjoy the views and relax! Fantastic view back to the coast and over the sea... More

La Mortella is the garden created largely by Susana Lady Walton, widow of the distinguished English composer. When they bought their house, a few miles outside Forio, in the North West of Ischia, It was surrounded by bare and precipitous limestone scree ('nothing but a quarry', according to their friend Larry Olivier), but it is now a paradise of ferns,...
