Charming place to meander

Typical Cyclades old town with winding narrow paths flanked by whitewashed buildings with colorful shutters. Nice place to shop and to find a taverna.

We walked through Old Town and around the Castle area almost every day the five days we stayed on Naxos Island. Loved the shops and variety of restaurants. Enjoyed seeing the original square.

the old town is the maze of streets within the old castle walls just above the port. Amazing to wonder around and discover the quirky streets, galleries and history

Best time of year is before the major tourist season i.e July/Aug or after as the tiny streets going up to the castle are lined with small independant shops with lovely wares enticing you to come and browse. There are nice cafes along the front where you can watch the boats come and go. Definately at trip up to the... More

As with other cities old town, there is a certain characteristics of Old Town. For Old Town Naxos and at this time of the year, it's the best time to visit as weather is cool and only a handful of tourists. The architecture is original and rustic. There are no streets signs to sign up once you get lost in... More

Walk the winding streets of the Old Town will reveal a menagerie of restaurants and shops, but the main feature is the Architecture of the walls, houses and archways. take a different pathway to reveal hidden houses and meet some locals. A regular stroll nightly is most enjoyable.

Get lost in the old town. Simply walk around and enjoy the tiny streets, the rock houses and the terraces on the sea. It's full of life, small bars and cafeterias in every picturesque corner and excellent tavernas to enjoy eating and drinking at any time.

I didn't know much about Naxos, because it is not top famous destination offered in travel agencies all over the world. You always have options like - Rhodes, Mykonos and so on. To my surprise, I found it probably the best place in Greece to spend your vacations, if you are a person who likes more noble and non-party places.... More

Having been to Naxos six times and spending a month there each time speaks for itself really, it is a beautiful place to visit and explore or just chill out by the sea in the many local tavernas in Naxos town or in the many surrounding idyllic villages. The people are so friendly and helpful, nothing is too much bother... More

a very great pleasure to come back there whenever is possible in spite of the great capharnaum of the invading ugly (not always) tourist shops everywhere…at the top a venetian castle which is still standing up and in which you can listen to concerts of greek music… the typical cycladic way to design the small and straight little street to...
