it is not a castle indeed but rather a residence of local noble ... it is located on the top hill of naxos, facing the main port ... visitors should visit all rooms inside, because of the rich collection of daily living equipent from the past ... if you are a fan of old furniture, cutlery and books, don't dare... Hotel actually overlooked the Kastro and was practically at arm’s length to it (Hotel Panorama.) Didn’t actually venture inside, but peered in to the ‘museum’ part of it and look just as you thougth it would – very dusty and historic! It’s a great thing to go have a wander around and whilst we were there, they actually projected a... More

Just take a night walk in the old town castle where among other historical sights you can visit various gift shops and buy presents and jewllery of greek modern art. Magnifiscent spots to take pictures in the narrow streets within the castle.

Perched above the Old Town, it's a wonderful place to walk and step back in time a bit. Bring your camera and take an evening stroll in the warm sunset light before heading down for dinner.

Finding the castle while strolling around in Naxos Town was something we didnt expect on a Greek island! Great view from the Venetian museum, interesting places to visit, lovely houses and a unique atmosphere especially late in the evening! Not to miss!

Lots to see in the Kastro museum and we were very fortunately to attend an evening concert there, overlooking the sea. The music and (real) traditional dancing were enchanting.

Fun to walk around - it's much like just walking through an older part of the town - but brief. There were a few churches and things to look at, but only one room to go in (free entry!) to read a little about the Kastro itself.

seen from the ferry the Kastro of Naxos Town, looks imposing, a bold sand coloured stone fortification rising out of the shops and restaurants below. It is a bit of an uphill climb, as you would expect, to reach the Venetian Castle via a mystifying rabbit warren of white washed houses with very narrow passage ways. All the dwellings appear...
