Perched above the Old Town, it's a wonderful place to walk and step back in time a bit. Bring your camera and take an evening stroll in the warm sunset light before heading down for dinner.

Finding the castle while strolling around in Naxos Town was something we didnt expect on a Greek island! Great view from the Venetian museum, interesting places to visit, lovely houses and a unique atmosphere especially late in the evening! Not to miss!

Lots to see in the Kastro museum and we were very fortunately to attend an evening concert there, overlooking the sea. The music and (real) traditional dancing were enchanting.

Fun to walk around - it's much like just walking through an older part of the town - but brief. There were a few churches and things to look at, but only one room to go in (free entry!) to read a little about the Kastro itself.

seen from the ferry the Kastro of Naxos Town, looks imposing, a bold sand coloured stone fortification rising out of the shops and restaurants below. It is a bit of an uphill climb, as you would expect, to reach the Venetian Castle via a mystifying rabbit warren of white washed houses with very narrow passage ways. All the dwellings appear... This beautiful castle overlooks the post city of Naxos, well preserved and worth a visit if in the area. There are still homes in the area from the period of the Venetian rule, along with shops and restaurants. Fantastic views. Bouzouki concerts are offered some evenings and are fabulous! Wonderful music in a fantastic setting and all the wine you... More

Wonderful to wander ducking under arches and small streets and winding up steps in the Kastro past small shops and flowers and cats after the heat of the day away from the bustling port and tavernas on the front. Worth a visit!

Nice view from the Kastro. On the Kastro also the Venetian museum from the family DellaRocca-Barozzi. This was their home with many personal belongings. Also a personal guide for you. You must see this.

I didn't suspect, until my feet touched the sand of Kastro, that it owed its present form to the Venetians ; a protective ring of cramped houses in a nervous medieval huddle presenting only windows and dovecotes to the outside world...the better to protect the inner town with its often vaulted all so often over the centuries that the accretions now seem...
