Go during the sunset to catch the best lights and take stunning pictures. It is not crowded, and you can easily access it by foot from the port of Naxos.

Breathtaking sunset view at the Portara, it was just a magic moment shared with loved ones and also other fascinated tourists. Taking a relaxing swim next to it was just connecting with the history of the place and enjoying the great view.

Take a walk out here for sunset - you won't be disappointed! Beautiful old ruins on a great extension from Naxos City.

Great vistas to Naxos town and its port and castle, especially at sunset. A must do in Naxos. Plus, if it's hot, have a swim down below on either the coastal side or the port side (whichever is more sheltered from the sea breeze.) Nice taverna below offers sea views without some of the commotion down on the port.

The most romantic spot on the island!! Better go just before sunset so as to see the sun set from the ancient ruin.

Family enjoyed a lovely sunset and enjoyed exploring the ruins. It did get quite busy around this time so perhaps visiting earlier in the day would have been better. A very nice experience.

The location of this monument makes it unique. It is on a small island linked to the town of Naxos by a causeway. It is a very short walk from the town and absolutely worth the walk. The Portara itself is quite photogenic and the views back over the town are also great. It is a beautiful place to watch... More

It's an easy walk up to the Portara (this is the archway where Apollo's temple foundation is), and lots of little paths to roam. There's a cafe as well, if you wish to get something to eat or drink. Best of all, at sunset you can get great pics.
