A small, easy dose of ancient history

Great place to visit at sunset. Not terribly interesting unless you read up on the history. Nice views of the coast north of Xora Naxos.

A great 20 minute detour to make on your way in and out of the port, or while waiting for the bus. The arch is very pretty against the ocean and there is no admission fee. You can take some very pretty pictures here without a lot of tourists, if you don't come immediately after a ferry pulls in!

It's a must at sunset, so it's really crowded... Quite beautiful during springtime, when the islet is covered with flowers!

A must see if you visit Naxos! Really great view, plus you can check out some ancient ruins while you are there.

Apart from being the symbol of the island , it is also a sight with a great history behind it and incredible view, especially in the sunset.

You couldn't go to Naxo and not see this!! The 360° view is just spectacular as well! I couldn't get enough photos! Well worth walking up to... do note though there are stairs.

Awesome. You cannot get a better view of the sunset from this point. It is beautiful no matter what time of day you go and also sports the best view of Naxos town on the island.

Eyecatching from afar and the walk towards it is even more beautiful. The blooming red flowers and the blue water made the place romantic! From there you can also see the city of Naxos and other islands.

Loved seeing this iconic landmark from the moment we stepped off the ferry. Twice during our stay, we hiked across the causeway and onto the site of the Portara. Took way too many photos as we shot it from every angle and in different lighting. Visiting this site made me feel like a part of history.
