Very informative and realistic model of the ironclad. It is unfortunate that you can no longer glimpse the real Monitor due to budget cuts.

This center offers a fascinating look at the famous Ironclad. The exhibit space is very interesting and surprisingly packed with stuff to see. The only thing I didn't find overwhelmingly amazing was the "Battle Theater" as I felt it could have been better. Overall, the experience is great.

This is a small, but well organized and informative museum on the Monitor and Virginia Civil War battleships. There are galleries with displays of nautical items, ship models, and rescue at sea. You can also see the desalination tanks holding the Monitor's turret, gun(s), and engine.

We went because I wanted to see the Monitor. I was anticipating with a 5 & 3 yr old to spend only an hour. We got there at noon and had to leave at 5 because they were closing. It was air conditioned except for the one outside display and had a number if interaction activities that the kids liked... More

We have been several times, you just can't take it all in. Seems like every time we go we see something new. The people that work there are very nice. The history here is just amazing.

I wrote my review of this attraction under the Mariners' Museum heading before I realized there was a seperate listing for the USS Monitor Center. I don't think I'm the only one to make that mistake. The whole facility is great and well worth the money.

We thoroughly enjoy visiting the Mariner's Museum and Monitor Center. Since we are locals, we go annually. The exhibits change continuously, so its like a "new" museum each visit. There is something to appeal to young and old. We especially enjoyed the Titanic Exhibit and Adrift At Sea Exhibit. The Monitor wing is amazing and will not disappoint. (Right now-January... More

Lots to see and read. Interesting to see the actual cannons and other pieces of the historic ship. Fair portrayal of the battle, and the hardships endured on both sides by the combatants daily. Worth a visit to see thestories and the items.

Just like the maritime museum, this was great. The exhibits were amazing. The ability to walk the deck of a full scale replica of the monitor or to go inside a replica of the Virginia was very neat. Just as fun was to see inside the turret while it rests in a conservation tank. Make sure you catch the hour... More

The Monitor is close to half the Mariners Museum's collection. My visit was just the Monitor , which was about four & half hours, which included reading. viewing & photographing. The Monitor's turret is on display, with one of it's cannons. Just a few yards away is a replica turret with cannon & gun carriage. Underneath is the gearing for... More
