Stayed there in May 2014. RV spaces are mostly back-in, with water and 30 amp electric hookups. There is a RV dump station on site. Choose your spot wisely, some have a lot of slope which may may make it difficult to level the trailer. There are Civil Ware era trenches and breastworks inside the RV area, but I didn't... More

Beautiful at any time of year, but especially in the fall. Be sure to take some bread for the ducks, fish and turtles! And don't forget your camera. You will have many opportunities to spot deer, birds and even a beaver or snake if you're lucky.

The park has lots of well-maintained walking, hiking and bike trails. Most of the trails have great water views of the reservoir. Park staff are friendly and helpful. Bathrooms are clean and easy to find.

We went on a lovely day -- I wanted to get my handicapped, 91-year-old dad out into the fresh air, and was looking for a place where he could ride his motorized scooter, and needed someplace not to far away from where he lives in Newport News …we ended up on the trails at the golf course and it was... This park is well developed with lots of trails. It is good for walks, biking or bird-watching and even has a campground. It is surprisingly natural for a city park. It is a real gem.

I was here for an event and have been to the park several times. It is a wonder place with nice trails, historic areas, great camping, large and clean shelters and lots to do. I wish I lived close enough to visit more often.

Lots of shade and places for chairs. Lots of space for games and vendors to set up shop. Parking has room for many cars. A bit of walk to restrooms, our event had special Porta Potties available only to our group.

Enjoy the trails and a perfect Civil War battle that took place across a lake/damed river. The battle of Dam #1 is a famous battle which produced two medals of honor, hundreds of killed and a taste for what the next 3 years will provide the combatants in this contest. Very good walking trail with small wooden bridges and signs... More
