Beautiful scenery

Beautiful lake and scenery. Reasonable prices to rent paddle boats although they seem old. Life jackets need to be replaced. Old and worn. Otherwise, nice place for camping.

Pros: We camped here for three nights in a visit to the area. The trails are fantastic - well maintained and marked. The history in the area is great. Plus, the campground was practically empty, making for a quiet time in the woods. The park rangers drove around hourly throughout the night. The campground connects to the discovery center and... The park is huge and there's lots of great options for things to do. They have campgrounds, playgrounds, paddle boats, canoes, picnic shelters, volley ball court, walking trails and even an outdoor stage for rental. It is beautiful and very well maintained.

canoes, camping ang paddle boats here. Very large park with plenty of trails of all varieties to choose from. Usually not crowded at all. At Christmas time they have a parade of lights through out the park. Don't forget to find the beautiful little garden donated to the park by the nation of Japan!

We were visiting in nearby Williamsburg and heard that Newport News Park had a nice, 5 mile bike trail, with bikes to rent. When we arrived at the park, they had only three beaten-up, dirty bikes, none of which were worth renting. That's not how many bikes were left but the total number of bikes available for rent. We chose... More

From canoe rentals to cookout shelters this is a good sized city park with a lot of amenities. Even two golf courses. I love the hiking trails in this park. There is a bike trail too.

we decided to take the paddle boats out. Fun for the kids. You can golf, take gilf lessons, hit the range, get a shelter, play volley ball, frisbee golf, fish, camp or just take a nice stroll. We like thee yearly fall fest as well. One of the largest parks east of Mississippi

This was a great park, beautiful views. The visitor center for Newport News is in here and the people there were wonderful and helpful. Thank you.

A huge campground that I find myself in almost by myself this Father's Day weekend. Surprised at how many available sites. The sites aren't all that level but are well trees and all have picnic tables and electricity. Just a few restrooms with showers that are quite old but functional nonetheless. Filled with lightening bugs tonight which i had never... More
