This campground is located inside the city limits of Newport News, VA. It has 8,000 acres of unspoiled land located on the shores of the city reservoir. All 188 sites are large and shaded in the forest. Newly refinished bathhouses. This piece of land was a part of the civil war and original bunkers are marked and many times just... More

Got lucky and my group had a shelter right on the water. The view was very nice. The park was clean and the shelters are far enough apart to really enjoy yourself without disturbing the shelter next to you. Could use more restrooms. Had to walk a little distance to get to restrooms. There was ample parking very close to... More

We spent the day exploring and playing. They always love coming to the park! The kids love to look for deer, ducks and turtles. We try to come to the park often and sometimes bring a picnic. Can't wait for the Fall Festival.

We go to Newport News park regularly, there is a great 5 mile trail for walking or bike riding. There is a cut through where you can go over to the Yorktown battlefields. There are also boats you can rent, or bring your own kayak! There are also several walking trails on the other side of the park too, plus... More

This is a large local park with trails, playgrounds, a lake, boating, camping - everything you would expect in a park. There are playgrounds, but not the most modern playgrounds. There are others in the area that are far better. There are a lot of events scheduled that draw in the public. The events are well planned and well attended.

My husband and I are on vacation this week, so of course today we woke up early and drove to Newport News Park, about 20 miles from our house. We camp here, so are familiar with the 5 mile loop. The path is mostly flat and is well maintained. It took us about 1.25 hours to walk the loop (actually... More

Just went looking for new and quick bike path and found the 5 mile path in the campground area to be so much fun for my family. We just wanted something quick and fun at sunset and this was it! It only took us about 40 min to ride the entire path bc it is so well maintained and very... More

Stopped by the other day to drop off a baby bat we found at the nature center. Drove around the park and could not believe how big it was. It is an enjoyable place to visit or camp. They also have a community golf course on the property. Well worth checking it out.

We stayed in a tent site for a true camping, campsite rates around $34.00 + tax with electric and water a night. The site is quite large, surrounded by trees, and site near the bathroom facilities. The entire park was clean and bathrooms are clean and beautiful nature trails. We are so happy overall with our stay. The Newport News... More
