We came to Sancerre for two weeks to study French at Coeur de France in an immersion course. We were treated very well and had excellent instructors. We rented an apartment from the School, Belle Vue, on the Ramparts des Augustine, a short walk from the School. The apartment was very comfortable and well furnished and had an outstanding view... I've studied French at schools in Villefranche, Aix-en-Provence, Bordeaux, Paris, near Avignon and in Spa, Belgium. I found the course at Sancerre one of the best, but not total immersion by a long shot. The wonderful part is the experience of living in this very picturesque and historic small French "ville", wandering the narrow, winding streets (very hilly), talking to... More

My two sons, 13 & 10, and I attended CdF in October. My sons did two weeks of instruction and I did one week. I had one-on-one classes with Evelyne and my sons had classes with Marianne da Cruz. I have had quite a bit of French. If I want to work on my comprehension, I can listen to the... More

I spent one week at Coeur de France this October in one-on-one teaching with Marianne, a co-director of the school. We spent time in the classroom for several hours or about town every morning. The teaching was exemplary. Marianne was able to pull more french out of me than i thought possible in conversation and in didactic learning through books.... More

In September, I returned for a week to Coeur de France for an intermediate class. I had taken a two week class plus several hours of tutoring in October 2009. CdeF does all it can to encourage its students to learn and to immerse themselves in the life of the small town of Sancerre. In contrast to some schools for... More

I love a holiday with goals and activities rather than just relaxing. Coeur de France and Sancerre were everything I wanted. Marianne, who taught my group, is a consumate professional and a talented teacher. The course is intense but never boring. The outings are helpful and interesting. The town is beautiful and the townsfolk extremely friendly. The whole package was... More

I've taken language classes at some of the great universities -- Harvard, Columbia, University of Vienna -- but Marianne is the best teacher I've ever experienced. Clear, engaging, fun, very good at setting just the right level and the right pace; the whole family made amazing progress and enjoyed every day. The apartments were charming, well cared for, comfortable; the... More

My husband and I came with our three kids. We stayed for one week. We were warmly welcomed at the train station by Marienne (one of the program co-owners). The apartment was beautiful, and the kitchen was well-equipped. Sancerre is a beautiful town steeped in history with a very welcoming citizenry. It is very hilly, hence I would recommend walking... My teenage daughter and I spent 4 weeks at Coeur de France and we were sad to leave! The program is everything the website portrays it to be and more. The school apartments are spacious, charming and well-equipped. We stayed in an apartment above the school which was very conveninet. We rented a car and couldn't imagine staying there without...
