The proprietors and staff of the school were all very gracious, patient and highly competent. The lodgings were outstanding. The excursions and activities were fun and educational. My only regret is that we could not have stayed much, much longer. Nous devons revenir!.

I recently (May 2015) attended Coeur de France Ecole de Langues and it was the BEST!!! The school, in the beautiful medieval village of Sancerre, is truly the best atmosphere to immerse yourself in French culture and language. Gerard and Marianne Chartrand, owners, are warm, friendly and welcoming. Marianne and the teaching staff are extremely patient people that help you,... More

Bonjour ! Thanks very much for your review. Marianne and I -- and all of the teachers -- appreciate your taking the time to tell others about your experience at Coeur de France. I'm happy that you liked your classically styled Gabriel studio apartment too. Being located in a 400 year old building we try to make Gabriel apartment authentic... More

Language learners gather atop beautiful Sancerre for French immersion and are greeted by Marianne and her wonderful staff. From the first email to the school to the departure on your last day there, the attention to detail is exceptional. The rigorous instruction is targeted to each student's own level and interest. Doesn't seem to matter if one is new to... More

October 2014, I attended a two-week Beginners II Combination Class at Coeur de France, having researched on the internet for 18 months before choosing a school. My class teacher, Gwendoline, was patient, encouraging and well-trained in her profession. My three private lessons each week taken by Marianne C (Co-Founder and in charge of all language instruction) were brilliant. My first... More

I've been learning French on my own for a couple years. Last year I realized the only way to take that next big step was through extended immersion, a long stay in France. When someone suggested Coeur de France as a way to kick-start that process, I initially balked at the idea. I'm an introvert so I have a hard... More

Thanks for your very realistic and balanced review. You're absolutely right: Like any learning experience, you get what you put into it! Your description of Sancerre is perfect. I would add that there are no franchises, fast food, tourist junk shops, or malls -- just authentic, real life in a vineyard village. Definitely not for everyone but for those who... More

There are no words eloquent enough to convey my three week "epitome of learning French" experience at Coeur de France. From my initial email to the school up to my departure from Sancerre, the entire experience met and exceeded my high expectations. Professionalism, organization and attention to small details ensured nothing was overlooked. All of my questions, concerns and requests... More

Great experience in a charming setting with very kind and interesting people (instructors and fellow students alike!). The school's activities (evening of cooking, outdoor market, wine tasting) were fun while of course enhancing the daily morning classes. The optional pronunciation and private lessons were an excellent plus. The village of Sancerre is lovely for strolling at all hours, very scenic... More

Thank you for your review. I agree with your thoughts about staying longer than 1 week. Most students stay 2 weeks or more. Of course the longer you can stay and treat yourself to immersion in French language and culture the more you progress but 1 week is better than not having come at all! Looking forward to welcoming you... More

I have just returned from a four-week visit to France. The first two weeks were spent as a language student at Coeur de France in Sancerre. Without a doubt, the pleasure of my entire trip was greatly enhanced by my two weeks at the school. As an adult learner, making significant strides in a second language can be frustrating but... I picked this school and the family program because I was looking for a way to introduce my daughter (9 years old) to language training while I also worked on continuing my education. We ended up bringing one of my daughter's friends (11 years old) with us to learn, as well. Our total investment to the school was 2,265 Euros... More

Although very long and negative your review is also very inaccurate. I encourage readers to carefully read it then compare it to the many, many others preceeding it. In so doing I am confident that an accurate and honest picture of Coeur de France is clear for all to see. It should be noted that you did promise us a... More

I highly recommend this school to anyone (child or adult) who would like to learn French, whether at the beginner level or at an advanced level. I came with a fluent knowledge of Spanish and 24 lessons of Pimsleur CDs and took the Beginner 2 course. The entire course was in French. I was amazed that I understood 95 percent... More
