I spent four weeks at Coeur de France in April of 2015 and it was an amazing experience—I went from only knowing the names of French desserts to being able to hold a functional conversation in French. I would recommend going for at least two weeks, and the longer the better. The classes are set up with four hours of... More

Thanks for your review. I agree, 2 weeks is a good minimum period of study since it takes time to get into the flow of being a student again, and as you say, the longer the better. Glad to know that you enjoyed your time with us and we all hope to welcome you back again someday! Gérard More

I recently completed two weeks at Couer de France in Sancerre, France. It was an excellent language experience. I am a recently retired middle school teacher and upon retiring I decided I wanted to learn French. I started taking classes but the progress was very slow so I looked for a language immersion school. If I had the type of... More

Bonjour ! Thank you for taking the time to review Coeur de France. You mentioned something that Marianne and I are very proud of: the composition of our classes. It's always a pleasure to see adults of all ages and nationalities working together in the Group classes. Here we find individuals from different backgrounds, ages, and countries learning and laughing... More

This was my first experience of a language study/vacation in France (altho' I've done several in Italy). I wanted a small, charming town, with a nice accommodation, and a well run school with small classes, good teachers, and interesting after-school activities. And that is precisely what I found Coeur de France to be during my 2-week stay. Gerard and Marianne... More

Thank you for your review. Marianne and I are pleased to know that you enjoyed your time at Coeur de France as much as we all enjoyed having you! Sancerre is indeed a village more than a city and as you know this supportive community helps our students gain confidence and progress. Many think of it as our "campus". I'm... More

Coeur de France is a fabulous school. My husband and I had a three week private language course, and we could not be happier with the experience. Laurie, our instructor, was one of the most patient human beings on the planet! My husband and I fumbled our way through conversations in French, and Laurie patiently corrected us, shaped our conversations,... More

From our very first email of inquiry up until the end of our course, Gerard and Mary Ann at Coeur de France were easy and professional to deal with as well as very accommodating. The coursework was challenging but both our French language skills and our confidence at speaking French improved immensely by the end of our time at the... More

This was my first trip to Coeur de France. I arrived feeling a bit apprehensive and out of my comfort zone, but I needn't have worried. Throughout the entire week I found all the teachers very friendly, patient and professional ( not surprising as Marianne's passion and commitment to the school is truly inspirational). I had one to one lessons;... More

Bonjour ! Thanks for sharing your experience at Coeur de France. I think you pointed out a very important fact about One to One private lessons: Being in a private class doesn't mean being alone; you ALWAYS have the opportunity to interact with fellow students in the various optional excursions and activities that are offered daily. I'm delighted that you... More

I wasn't sure what to expect - in some ways it was very different than what i expected language wise - it very much a class where you get out of it what you put into it. Reflecting on my week, I got a much better base in French which is very helpful, had a very nice time in the... More

Thanks for coming to Coeur de France. You're absolutely right: learning a language takes effort and one does indeed get out of it what one puts into it. Glad you enjoyed your experience and I hope to see you again someday soon! Gérard More

This was my forth time at the Coeur de France but my first time in a group class. The language school does a wonderful job of making you feel like you're part of french family. All the instructors are very competent and friendly and work hard to make the class fun and educational.

While I admire the mission and goals of this school, after attending 4 weeks of other French classes at other locations in France, I was very disappointed in this school, and, in fact, left after 2 days because: 1. I did not find the course material challenging and interesting. I know the French subjunctive, and I know and am not... More

Bonjour. Thank you for review. In reply to your 4 points: 1. You registered for an Advanced Group class and your classmates were at your level. As an Advanced Group class the subjects studied are appropriate for that level and as a Group class the topics of conversation must be of a general interest to all members of the Group... More
