My family of 4 (two children 8 and 12) loved it here for an afternoon of fun. We had very nice lunch al fresco (big, fresh, local salads for the adults and quiche for the kiddies) and the girls played in the garden labyrinth. We walked all through the jardins playing hide and seek far above the winding Dordogne river and... More

The gardens are superb! The hedges so neatly clipped and all done by hand not electric clippers! You could spend all day here. The views and walks are stunningly beautiful! There is a lovely cafe overlooking the valley below. Highly recommend! More

You have to visit these gardens. Absolutely beautiful. We visited on a Thursday evening. Thursday nights in July and August you can explore Marqueyssac by candlelight. With music and animations as well as some entertainment for children. These start at 7 pm and go on until midnight. Cant wait to go back. More

Nice gardens.....mostly boxwood....but a lot of boxwood. Nice trail and nice walk. I would go early in the day or later in the evening for the best photos. More

We saw the most amazing panoramic views and spent several hours walking around the path. There is also a restaurant on the premises. More

A super visit, lots of walking though so wear sensible shoes. A pic nic area outside and free parking. The gardens are quite formal near the chateau but the trails have super viewing platforms and lots of photo opportunities with craft activities during the holidays for children. The only downside was the outrageous prices for ice creams near the play park,we... Visited here with the family, the boys loved it, so many twists and turns and the views down to the Dordogne River were unbeatable. Initially didn't think the kids would find it interesting but with so many paths to choose it keep them thinking and running around most of the day only stopping for an ice cream. Its also worth... I visited in early August on a Thursday night. During the summer they have a special candle-lit experience on Thursdays. It is more expensive, but worth it. We arrived just as the reopened at 7:00 P.M. so the line was short and parking was easy. we walked the perimeter and back again, emoting the spectacular views of the Dordogne valley,... More

The gardens at Marqueyssac are truly amazing- a must see for any one interested in gardens and garden design. My only complaint is that there was too much to see!! We were there in mid-April 2008- the weather was perfect and as we went later in the day- there were no crowds at all. More
