Sweeping vista of the Dordogne river valley! Lovely stroll through the bushes and brushes a top a cliff! Lunch with a view! You get it all with a visit to the Les Jardins de Marqueyssac. Honestly, it is better than actually hustling through the touristique bustle of the "villages plus belles" themselves because these pretty villages and castles do look... More

Located on a spur overlooking the Dordogne to La Roque Gageac and beyond, these gardens are worth visiting just for the views. The famed topiary is imaginatively-shaped and surreal, the buildings are classic (lauze) stone-tiled style of the region and the extensive gardens are well-landscaped with plenty of room for long strolls. The only real negative is that the topiary... More

This was out second visit. The gardens are wonderful, especially out of season when we assume they are much less busy. The views from the cliffs and belvedere are outstanding, and we also greatly enjoyed the quiet walk back through woodland before rejoining the gardens. The restaurant is pleasant too, again with lovely views, this time across to Beynac.

The best part of this visit is the trek to "La Belvedere" that is the point overlooking the Dordogne Valley. The view is special in all directions; it is well worth the walk. The gardens around the Chateau are nicely done. Not much as to the Chateau; it is limited. Do this for the view!

We returned for the second time this summer and loved it even more. Our 4 small children explored the maze, the walks in the woods and the playgrounds for hours before a great lunch looking out over the sensational view. We'll return to see the candlelights another day - the children were pooped by the time it was getting dark.... More

We took our two boys (aged 3.5 & 15months) here whilst on holiday and we all had a great time. Beautiful gardens and the views from the Cliff walk are stunning! The boys loved the play areas and just generally running about and exploring. Although we were there in August and the car park was full it didn't feel busy... More

It's rare that I find the real thing more impressive than the brochure. I had imagined that I would be disappointed in these gardens, being convinced that the beautiful pictures online and in the brochure were due to good lighting and camera angles. As it turns out, the pictures don't do it justice. We went on a Thursday night just... More

The gardens are really nice, have amazing views over the valley towards the castles and over the Dordogne river towards le roc gageac. They are especially good in very hot weather, we went when it was 35c+ and the shade was great! We all ate at the restaurant and managed to get a table over looking the valley, absolutely stunning... Great place to spend a day with your whole family. Little ones will find animations and playgrounds, older ones can try the (free! Included in your entrance fee!) Via Ferrata to climb along cliffs overlooking the Dordogne Valley and enjoy magnificent views and all can enjoy the beautiful gardens. Definitely recommended!

These gardens are extraordinary and well worth a visit, even on a dull day. The views over the valley of the Dordogne from the terraces are phenomenal. We had a very pleasant lunch in the restaurant, enjoying the stunning views from our table. We are so glad we found this place and you could easily spend a whole day here.
