The persistent cloud on our day meant we had no view whatsoever, but the walk was very impressive nevertheless. Lush cloud forest with enormous numbers of bromeliads. The gale blowing past the volcano was impressive too, and being a warm wind, not annoying. Our guide spoke exellent english and was very knowledgeable. Transport up and down in the back of... More

Looking out from the summit gives you a great view of volcanic activity and vegetation. If you have time it is worth the visit.

I have been to Mombacho several times and I always enjoy the little escape into the wild nature of Nicaragua. It is only 20 minutes away from busy Granada, but one of the most impressive places I have been to. The vegetation is incredible and different hikes are offered to discover the volcano. Emerick, our guide, was very knowledgeable and... More

The zip wiring half way up the volcano was wonderful. We all enjoyed swinging from tree to tree. It was slick, professional and there is a fab coffee shop at the base. We also went walking right at the top, it was fine but a lot of steps and many are broken. And we had no view due to the... More

On the day we went the Volcano this was active and the trails were closed. There was not much to see at the volcano except smoke emerging from the ominous crater. The drive up was nice, the higher the elevation the more barren the landscape became. I was impressed with the safety at the top parking lot as they have... More

It's a gorgeous area on top of the volcano if the weather is good; it's also cooler than in Granada. There are three hikes to take. One is very easy, and requires no guide. The second takes about 1 1/2- 2 hours, and requires a guide. I recommend this one, because the views are best, and the guide explains things... More

The hike around the crater trail is easy and it offers a great view of the crater and Granada. this was my first time in a cloud forest and it was truly amazing. I enjoy seeing and feeling the volcano's fumaroles. I recommend going with a guide that knows the fauna/flora of the volcano well in order to get more... More

Perfect afternoon spent on Mombacho. First with a tour of the coffee farm, Finca El Progreso, then up to the trails. We saw so much plant life and even saw a sloth! Such a cool place, and yet still so pristine.

It's a relatively easy volcano to hike and it's usually cool up there. The view can be good if there aren't any clouds.
