The historic La Merced is one of the most beautiful churches in Granada. It is a short two-block walk from the Plaza Colon. The church's bell tower offers the best views of Granada. The climb up the narrow staircase is relatively easy and you can ascend any time the church is open (with the exception of Sundays and when church... More

For just $1 (and a slightly claustrophobic climb), this church offers one of the best views of Granada. You have a 360 degree view of the city, though it can get quite crowded at the top. Worth it if you have the time!

Every team we bring to Granada schedule their free time so they can take advantage of the 360 degree view of Granada from the bell tower. Anytime is good but sunsets are especially good for taking photos! Well worth the $1 for the entry fee and the steep stairs! Just three blocks off Parque Central on Calle Real Xalteva.

If you visit Granada ,this is a good place to have a 360 view of the town and the region.the stairway is a bit steep and narrow at the beginning put not that bad, worth the dollarit cost to go up there.

We visited on a Sunday when the Priest was christening babies. The church was full of kids, running around, making noise. Obviously a real place of community. The stained glass windows are priceless and the architecture is lovely. It's not Notre Dame, but this town isn't Paris, either.

$1 to go up the bell tower and get great views of the city. We did not hear the ringing of the bell but it is still meant to be used. Definitely worth it.

Views from the tower are fantastic but the stairs are windy and very narrow. Cost is $1.00 per person. Church is beautiful.

The Church itself is a magnificent piece of architecture, with a beautiful inside betrayed by an exterior that reminds visitors of Granada's troubled past with pirates, such as William Walker. The views from the bell tower are incredible, allowing visitors to view the entire city, including lake Nicaragua and the Mombacho volcano.

The church is very appealing in its rough appearance but as always immaculate inside. You must climb the bell tower, it is the best value $1 around. Plan your ascent as the spiral staircase leaves no room for manoeuvre, someone will need to reverse, but once up there, wow, what a view. The lake, the volcanoes and the city. Do... More
