Mombacho Cigars of Nicaragua

I’ve been smoking cigars since I was a very young 19-year old U.S. Marine Corps Sergeant in Vietnam (1967-68). They are small individually handcrafted works of art --- the poor man’s Mona Lisa as it were. Cigars are in no way similar to a cigarettes --- the cigarette is a quick nicotine hit, a fine cigar is a treat for... More

On our 2 week vacation to Nicaragua we kind of stumbled across Mombacho Cigars as we wondered around Granada. Granada is like Antigua Guatemala, cleaner, the buildings are amazing. 3 blocks from the Central Park in Granada we came across this Yellow Building. The new home we are told of Mombacho Cigars. The building itself is worth the stop alone.... More

We just happened to be passing this beautiful old colonial building and popped our heads in for a quick look. Wow! We were given a great welcome and shown round the wonderful building, which was a fascinating insight into the making of cigars. Daniel was exceptionally helpful and friendly, as well as speaking great English, and his passion and knowledge... More

Hi Julie, Thank you very much for your comments, it was a pleasure to meet you! Thank you for complementing my English, I´d be rather concerned if I wasn´t able to be understood given that I´m British myself (from Gibraltar)! Hope you had a great time in Nicaragua and thank you for dropping by Mombacho Cigars! Regards, Daniel More

Being a non smoker visited the local factory to get a friend a few cigars, it was very interesting how the staff set out and roll the local tobacco, the tour it really informative and to see the cigars completed manually is even more of an education. The staff are totally committed and Daniel was really helpful indicating what I... More

Our family took a tour of Mombacho Cigars in late November. The guide was informative and we enjoyed watching the workers roll the cigars. The highlight was have someone help us attempt to roll our own. While our daughter was a bit impatient with part of the tour, she enjoyed watching the cigar rolling. None of us are smokers, but... Pretty neat side-stop during our carriage ride through the old town. Great ambiance, very friendly people and very interesting to see how the cigars are made. Looks easy, but requires lots of skill. Many great photo ops and excellent opportunity to learn something new.

While wandering the streets of Granada, we happened upon this business. We were very surprised to meet the tour guide Eric, a young Canadian boy from British Columbia. (those Canucks are everywhere!!) We really enjoyed the tour, and seeing all the different stages of making a cigar. Eric was very knowledgeable about the operation. We saw about 5 groups of... More

Great Party at Casa Mombacho in January! Been there four times now and can't get enough. Great cigars, great atmosphere and an awesome tour. Not sure what the tour guide's actual name is as I heard people calling him Pedro, Eric, Enrique, Badger, Maestro, El Patron, etc. Very informative nonetheless. Highly recommend going for a smoke, rum and have your... More

We stopped in at Mombacho by chance while exploring Granada. To our surprise there is a strong Canadian and Toronto connection to Mombacho, and we were greeted by a number of Canadians from the Toronto office who were in town for the anniversary celebration of the company. The tour of the facility was informative and friendly, and we were invited... More
