Amazing, intimate facility not far off of the main drag in Middleburg, focusing solely on red, Bordeaux style blends. The wines are almost as good as RdV's but at half the cost. Not quite as exclusive but very good product.

Staying with friends close by, we decided to have ourselves a little tasting and went here to kep the drive short. BOxwood s beautifully located in the middle of its small-ish hills and vines and a first glance at the grapes, told me that this is a young place. The interior is all shiny a chrome and seemingly caters to... More

Boxwood Winery is a real treat. Despite many of the other reviews, the wines are EXCELLENT, and the architecture is STUNNING. My husband and 5-year old son visited here on a Sunday in July, and it was the best winery - BY FAR - of any of the ones we had visited that day. The staff were prompt and accommodating,... More

The building was beautiful inside and out. The architectural style modern casual. We loved the natural light and feel of the place. The wines were not to our liking. They had a lovely nose but not enough taste forward. They hit the back of your tongue but not in a great way. It could just be our pallette but I... More

So, we went a few years ago and it was just mediocre to us back then. But, we've been back a few more times, with each re-visit getting better and better. Because things have gotten better for us after more visits, we recently joined as members and decided to attend a party they had recently. The many staff members and... More

this winery does not project a typical winery feel or decor. Everything in the winery is modern, shiny and chrome. You can see the barrel room thru a glass window and other processes as well. It isn't very big at all. The staff was friendly and described each wine throughly. The grounds of the winery has some nice views nothing... More

I checked out the new Boxwood tasting room between films at the annual Middleburg Film Festival. Sadly, the report is not good. These are lighter reds in a "Bordeaux" style but are inescapably Virginia wines. Boxwood is proud to be mentioned in the first entry on Virginia wines in Robert Parker's latest oeuvre. What could Parker have been thinking? I... More

We visited Boxwood Estates on a chilly Saturday afternoon in November. This was the first VA winery we had been to west of Leesburg. The drive out was beautiful, and going through the small town of The Plains, VA was a treat. We passed a lot of signs for other wineries in the area. The winery itself was small -... More

This is a nice stop if you're in the area. The facilities are nice and modern...you can see the bottling room and wine cave which is fun, but the tasting room is very small and can get crowded really quickly. There are picnic tables near the entrance but they all face the driveway. They currently only offer red wines, most... More

Ah, Middleburg! Land of massive estates dotted with blue blood equines, amid gorgeous views! Nestled amongst one of these settings is The Boxwood Winery. However, what you see from the outside is robbed of you, once you enter the windowless interior of the austere tasting room. Some think it's cool and modern. I say, it's a crime to cheat everyone...
