This is an amazing museum for such a small city. Lots of exhibits about fossils, geology and ancient inhabitants of Virginia. Interactive exhibits are fun for all ages.

We went with our children on a school field trip, the dinosaur display was amazing but I thought that they could use some more displays. We may visit again in a few years but it isn't a place I would go repeatly.

My grand daughter is fascinated by dinosaurs, so I took her to the Virginia Museum of Natural History. The last time I went, the museum was still in the old location and it was a field trip. There wasn't much to see or do for a two year old. The man in the gift shop was very friendly and educated... More

We have had a family membership for the past three years. We love to take our 2 & 8 year olds here. They change some of the exhibits every few months and always make part of the new exhibits hands-on. They also have an indoor playground room which we love to take the lids to for a good break.

If you want to visit a museum that is Smithsonian quality without the hassle of going to Washington D.C. This is an incredible place to visit. It has a lot of great displays and makes a geat field trip for schools. Plus they have good group rates.

A high-quality museum experience for half the price you'd pay in larger cities.  This is a great place to spend time with friends and family of all ages.

I take my grandchildren every year when they visit in August. This is a wonderful museum!! It is affiliated with the Smithsonian Museum, and reflects that high caliber.

It is smaller than I expected but they do it right. There are more hands on exhibits than I have seen anywhere else. If you are in the area I would recommend spending an hour or two there. I had fun playing while learning. A museum shouldn't be static displays. I can learn online that way. We have family near... More
