This is a great place to bring your family! Our boys are baseball fanatics and little did we know the cabin we rented (hickory) was literally 50 yards from a baseball field here in the park. The swimming area is great and the boys have had a blast. Our boys that came are 13,8,8,&7 and there is plenty here to... More

Held a family event there. John Stone--the honcho at the park, not the sheriff from "Sloop John B"--and his staff were unbelievably helpful and accommodating to our rather large, heterogeneous, and unpredictable group. The park itself is beautifully laid out and perfectly maintained, with a wide range of accommodations and activities. If you find yourself in Southside Virginia, plan a... More

Went here yesterday for a birthday party it was really pretty. I love the swimming area. I would recommend this to everyone if they are looking for somewhere to have a cookout, picnic, or just to go there

My cousin had her wedding and reception here, and we were treated very well by the staff. Everyone, from the greeters at the entrance to the staff that helped bus tables at the end of the night, had a warm smile and a fabulous attitude. They were incredibly accommodating, and the park itself was gorgeous.

Campground C is a great spot for tent camping. We stayed in site 10 For 5 nights. Had lots of privacy and space. The platform was large and provided plenty of room for 9 person tent and 10*10 canopy. Bathrooms were clean. Neither my husband nor I ever had to wait for a shower. Enjoyed camping, swimming, kayaking, fishing, and... More

Camped here in as part of a large family park. It was a lovely park, and the bathrooms were quite nice. Campground C does not have electricity, but does have really nice wooden tent platforms that helped keep the tents dry during the rain storms. Whhile Campground B does have electricity, it is next to a creek, and the drainage... More

My husband and I happened upon Hungry Mother State Park as we were driving the back of the dragon road into Marion. What a lovely park! We stopped long enough to have lunch at the restaurant. We ate outside on the deck and had very good sandwiches. Then we walked around for a while. There is a wonderful swimming area... More

This honestly the best family vacation we have had in a very long time. We camped inside the park at Camp B, which we highly recommend. We only got to stay 3 nights and 4 days, which was not long enough. All the staff that we met were very knowledgeable and very helpful! My family and I went fishing, Paddle... More

If you want to enjoy the outdoors at lunch give the restaurant at Hungry Mother a try. A relative simple menu to enjoy but add in the view makes it a most stop when you come to Marion. They need a bit of work on properly making a Marion Class Hamburger. Overall the park has an excellent beach with no... More
