This is one of the hidden jewels of Virginia. Come and visit and explore- you will not be sorry!! The trails, the lake, the ambience of the park all are very relaxing.

I rented a cabin for our family of 4 and our 2 dogs. The cabin was even air-conditioned!! Beautiful fireplace, nice kitchen with fridge, microwave, stove, and oven. The cabin had 2 bedrooms, bathroom, and a nice family area. The rockers on the front porch were an unexpected surprise too. We enjoyed a strenuous hike to Molly's Knob and saw... More

Beautiful scenery, lots to do with hiking, bike riding, fishing, camping, and huge lake. We tried paddle boarding for the first time, kayaking and paddle boats:-)

Amazing place to hang out with little people and let them explore around the lake and wooded areas. Much more to explore if you have the time and a great place to run.

We camped in "B" loop, arrived early, and only had a short wait for a campsite we wanted. The campground was great, and having only 20 sites, was quiet and comfortable. There are six ... Maybe seven sites creek side, and are site specific by reservation only. There are really nice cabins, yurts, and a tent only "C" loop. B... More

We booked our campsite online, from a drawn map of the area. We were very pleased when we pulled up to our spot. We were in the bend of the creek, on a corner spot with a lot of room to spread out. At night, when everything got quiet, we could hear the babbling of the creek as we drifted... More

Loved the lake and the part services. The rangers were very knowledgeable and excited about their topics. The prices were very reasonable. I loved the Owl Prowl and the canoe trip.

There were so many things to do here and the park is beautiful! I enjoyed hiking, swimming (there's a high dive!), kayaking, and relaxing.

This is a great place to bring your family! Our boys are baseball fanatics and little did we know the cabin we rented (hickory) was literally 50 yards from a baseball field here in the park. The swimming area is great and the boys have had a blast. Our boys that came are 13,8,8,&7 and there is plenty here to... More

Held a family event there. John Stone--the honcho at the park, not the sheriff from "Sloop John B"--and his staff were unbelievably helpful and accommodating to our rather large, heterogeneous, and unpredictable group. The park itself is beautifully laid out and perfectly maintained, with a wide range of accommodations and activities. If you find yourself in Southside Virginia, plan a... More
