This is a nice, clean park. They don't have a pool, but have a beach area at the lake. There are a lot of camping areas and cabins you can rent. But, if you don't fish there wouldn't be a lot to do. They do have some paddle boats you can rent. There is a nice playground. The area scenery... More

Spent several days with my family camping and "cabining", kids had a great time hiking, swimming, diving, and playing with other children. Campfire at night was relaxing, overall good family and outdoor fun. Park was only 4 miles from Marion, was helpful since the park really did have "camp" store, so make certain to bring all you need. Will most... More

I live a couple of hours away from Hungry Mother State Park. My family gets together and takes day trips here almost every summer. It is so beautiful and relaxing here. In a time where it feels like our lives are constantly busy and rushed, when we are at the park it feels like time slows down and we are... More

We visited friends recently who were very excited to take us to Hungry Mother State Park Restaurant for dinner. The site is very rustic and beautiful. Our waiter, William, was great, although he seemed to be overworked. We were there on a Tuesday evening and the restaurant seemed very understaffed. Perhaps the kitchen was too because the meal was poor.... More

A couple of friends got married in this park, so that was the primary reason for the trip here. My friend and I came back the day after the wedding to do some kayaking before driving back to NC. The boat house rental rates were very reasonable! We kayaked for a while, taking in the beautiful scenery the park had... More

I spent a few hours hiking in the park with my young son and we had a lot of fun. To help keep my son engaged and entertained during our hike, I found an interesting iPhone app called "Git Your Goat." It lets you create a lot of goats along the trail and when you reach the spot with a... More

A bit on the damp side, it was still a great place to spend and afternoon. Great music and food. The walk around the lake is like stepping into a postcard. We liked the event very much :-)
