We stopped by this weekend to do a vertical tasting of their red blend. The pourer was the vinter and was so knowledgeable about the wines, the growing conditions, the weather for each year, the corks, and even the bottles. We learned so much and enjoyed tasting these delicious wines and comparing one year to the next. It was a... More

The tasting area was very small and could not accommodate many people. I noticed that some people ended walking away. On a positive note there is no tasting fee and the wines poured were good. I would recommend making the stop.

I like a winery that is NOT focused on being an event space but is focused on making their wines. This is true of Lovingston Winery. The tasting "bar" is located on the second floor above the operations. The pourer was very knowledgeable. The wines were good and very reasonably priced. They are not open in the winter except by... Stopped by the Lovingston Winery while visiting other attractions in Nelson County. The winery is small, with the tasting room being just a small bar on the second floor overlooking the operation. Our pourer was very knowledgeable about the wines presented, which were very good. They even have how many cases were produced of each wine which is a nice... More

Neat tasting room, located over the wine making area. Nothing fancy, it's just a warehouse. But it was kind of cool to see all the equipment while you tasted the wine. The wine was okay. Decent variety, and the guy doing the tastings was pretty knowledgeable.

A small, no-nonsense winery that knows what it's trying to do and stays focused. Neat setup in that the tasting area is right there with in the winemaking facility.

We were traveling Route 29- doing some leaf peeping--came along Lovingston Winery. Small vinyard, small tasting area, right were the wines are "made". We tasted some lovely, fragrant Reds, Merlots, etc. Try the 2006 Reserve Merlot--nice nose, good body &nice finish. Beautiful area to see when the leaves change.

In the wine tasting area you get to see exactly how the wine is made from your seat. The tasting was a very friendly, educational experience.

If you're in the Charlottesville area and you love beautifully crafted wines and intelligent conversation about wine, make it a point to visit. The winery is roughly a half-hour south of the city, and well worth the trip down Route 29. The tasting room is simple, which suits us fine, because the wine is the star here. You will not... More

If you're looking for a fancing tasting room with all the amenities of a boutique winery, you'd best pass on Lovingston. If you're looking for some excellent red wines, Lovingston is certainly worth the drive down Route 29 from Charlottesville. The tasting area is small, and located in the production area. Fancy it's not. Lovingston does not produce a lot... More
