Organized events with many activities, truly a center for leadership. VMI is a one of a kind University with an honor code that drives the corp of cadets to exceed in all academics, service, and leadership.

We went for my grandson's graduation. The campus (post) is very well laid out and for military architecture is very beautiful. Other than the graduation ceremony which was impressive the highlight of the visit was the parade honoring the cadets who gave their lives at the Battle of New Market. This is something which every American should witness. I guarantee...

Lots of displays to see at VMI....Cadets are very helpful and friendly. The buildings are lovely and it is fun to walk the whole campus.
Canada offers nothing to compare with this. I'm blown away by these friendly cadets, their proud parents and the incredible tribute parade they do on the anniversary of the battle of New Market where they lost 10 of their own in 1864. It gives me a new appreciation for our neighbours.
They did a very moving pipe rendition of Amazing...

If possible, Friday is the best time to visit; there is usually a parade in the evening. If you go into the guardroom (across from the cannons) and ask, you'll probably be able to get a guided tour around the Post (NOT Campus!). The 2 museums (Jackson Memorial Hall and Marshall Center) are excellent. The place has changed a lot...

The school and museum are truly wonderful to visit. The chapel is awe inspiring, the museums and fascinating and the town is a great historic and shopping location. A real sense of US history to it all.
Absolutely pristine campus which at times is filled with impeccably dressed cadets that salute and greet you as they pass always tipping their hat to the ladies on the walkway. Even with no military history of our own, we soon grew to love and appreciate the order, respect and discipline this campus and institute provides to the students, staff and...

Disclaimer: Our son graduated from VMI, so VMI has a special sentimental value for us. We have returned several times because of it's beauty and quiet dignity. If you get discouraged about the state of today's youth, a visit to VMI will buoy your spirits. They turn out polite, hardworking men and women. Don't be surprised as you walk around...

We visited the VMI during a day's stopover in Lexington and were lucky enough to arrive at the museum just before the guided tour. Despite there being only us and one other couple the tour went ahead and we were shown round the different buildings by one of the cadets. He was extremely well turned out, well informed and enthusiastic....
