This post-Revolution mansion, with its delightful lgardens and rolling fields, is a jewel in the crown of the National Trust for Historic Preservation. Its recently-restored greenhouse is one of the oldest in North America. Oatlands has lots to interest every visitor, from toddlers to seniors.

Had an incredible morning tour with Jim. We were fortunate to go first thing in the morning, the mansion has no AC. Jim was great, learned a lot about the history of the Mansion and the area. The grounds are great, if it had been cooler we would have spent more time walking around. Definitely worth seeing!

A beautiful Saturday afternoon, a knowledgeable tour guide, and only 4 people in the group made this a wonderful visit. The tour guide led us through the ground floor of the home - it takes about an hour. We were able to tour the upstairs on our own. What a stunning view of the mountains from the front porch and... Beautiful gardens and very interesting tour, loved the gift shop! The greenhouse and one spot outside just took my breath away. Magical place to visit!

Absolutely a must see in the Fall! I have been here three times, and have enjoyed my time in the gardens each and every time. I also took the house tour with my Dad when he was in town, and we both really enjoyed the tour. Very informative and friendly staff! Oatlands is a place one can go back to,... More

This is a wonderful old plantation with great history. The gardens are a delight! There are many out houses too, but one can only visit the carriage house. The old carriage house, which is a magnificent old building, houses the gift shop and where High Tea is served on special days. The house tour is a must along with the... More

I love guided tours and there were only 5 in our group. The tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and the history of the families owning the house very interesting. We loved the gardens.

The gardens are amazing. Even in the pouring rain. House is impressive. Guide very knowledgeable. Lots of info on the families who resided here.

The mansion tour was led by Liz, who remembered every detail about the home's history and brought the history to life. The garden was inviting and intricate. The kids we observed on our visit were having an exciting time discovering the hidden trails between the shrubs. Well placed benches begged us to sit and spend the afternoon just enjoying this... We spent several hours at this lovely location. My husband and I decided to take to guided tour of the manor house and we were the only people for the 1:00 pm tour. I was wonderful learning about the plantation's history and the history of the people that owned it through the years. The gardens were just coming out with... More
