High Quality Course, Well Maintained, highly Priced But Recommended

Played late June on Friday afternoon. It was like we had the whole course to ourselves. Course was lush. Poanna (sp?) greens were slow but smooth. In the valley looking up at... read more

Played both courses. Except for #10, it is flatter than The Old Course. I feel both are more about a rich history than really well maintained golf courses. The practice range is worse than any public course you will play. Chewed to pieces. It is also a distance from the course (back towards the hotel). Either stop there before going... More

This golf course is highly rated by Golf Digest and others. I guess that would be the case if you looked up at the view, but never down at the course. Course maintenance is very lax. The staff could care less if you are there. The greens are ridiculously slow and grainy. The back nine has a good design, but... More

Very disappointed in this trip. I had been many times before it became an Omni property. It has certainly lost its "class". Relaxed dress code makes one wonder if you are in a local blue collar bar. So sad to see this happen. Service is non existent and many maintenance issues are left unattended.

Played late June on Friday afternoon. It was like we had the whole course to ourselves. Course was lush. Poanna (sp?) greens were slow but smooth. In the valley looking up at surrounding mountains is very pretty. Golf course gets A rating but condition and service at the pro shop restaurant was C-. Bar tender couldn't speak English and the... I love this course and the scenic mountain views. The two nines couldn't be much different with the front nine playing up and down the mountain and the back nine playing along The Cascades River valley. I will warn that this is a difficult course and, the day I played it, I thought they might be playing the U.S. Open... More

A bit pricey, and about a 10 minute drive from hotel (there is a shuttle), but very fun. Some blind holes, but there is an app that provides yardages and flyovers. Great conditions, very fast greens.

Take this 3 hour guided hike up the Cascade Falls on Homestead property. You traverse back and forth over bridges crossing the falls as you meander through Virginia back country complete with wild flowers, if you time it right. If you get the right guide, you will hear much about the geology, wildlife and vegetation there. If you get a... More

The Cascades Golf Course at The Homestead is one of the top courses in Virginia and one of the best in the region that is open for play. Perfectly conditioned tee boxes, fairways, and greens. Friendly and attentive staff. Not crowded. I played 18 in about 3 hours. This is a must play if you are staying at The Homestead.

If you are an avid golfer, play this track. You will enjoy all aspects. Great landscape, course condition, playability and challenge. A top 100 in the US, and I have played about 25 of Golf Digests list of top 100!

We were disappointed in our meal here. Since it is part of The Homestead I guess we were expecting a bit more. My husband's portions for the sides for roasted chicken were very small. Fettuccine alfredo was on the menu and I asked if they could add chicken which they did. The chicken seemed like it had just been boiled... More
