We are a family-owned and operated farm winery, located just north of Richmond VA. A refreshing change from the ordinary! Our staff serves a tasting of wines from whites to delicious reds and dessert wines in a tranquil country setting. Enjoy a picnic on our beautifully landscaped patio or capture the view from the terrace. James Batterson, winemaker, creates all wines from Virginia grown grapes.

We were on a wine and beer crawl on 95 N on our way from Jacksonville to DC (via myrtle beach). This was about a 2 mile detour for us and worked out great. We were surprised on how busy the place was. It costs 5 dollars to taste all their wines (14 when we visited) which is a good... More

While the tasting bar area is small and can be busy at times, the staff is friendly and their wines are both delicious and reasonably priced. They have large room on the second floor and patio seating area outside to enjoy your wine purchases. I have visited several times and always pleased with the service and the value of their... More

We had bought a Living Social coupon and decided to try James River, it was a great experience and we ended up joining their wine club. There have been very few VA wineries that we liked, as we're from the West Coast and lived in CA, WA and OR and have tasted there numerous times. The experience here was great,... More

The grounds were beautiful upon entering. We walked inside and were greeted immediately. We asked if a tour was possible but he was the only person on duty at the time. He asked us if we were interested in a tasting. He pulled the glasses out and started with the whites. He explained all the aromas and what it pairs... More

My mom and I stopped in for a tasting. What a nice time, great wasting wines and a nice gift shop. I would try to go back when they have live music.

We happened to be in the area on a Tuesday, of course Tuesdays would be reservation only. We called them and they were able to fit us in right away. We tried 15 wines for $5. Now they do only pour you a very small amount, about half of normal places but you ate trying 15. Between the great service... More

Loved the Chardonnay and the reds. While there are a couple vines here, most of the grapes come from Montpelier, which differentiates the winery from the other Williamsburg Wine Trail wineries.

I absolutely loved stopping in here! The General Manager came out to speak with me and the bartender was so accommodating. I would highly recommend stopping in here. Wish more companies treated their customers like this! Thanks for the great experience!

We were on our way to Williamsburg and decided to make a quick detour. We were glad we did. We had a great tasting and even bought some wine. The staff was very friendly and helpful.

A group of us went over after BBQ in town and I completely forgot to call ahead as we were 9 people. They could not have been nicer. Took us to the private tasting room and put up with our antics. Now granted I realize that cant happen on a busy day but we were very happy. Faith and Jimmy... More
