I have been a season subscription holder for the Fairfax Symphony Orchestra for more than 15 years. Almost all the concerts have been in the Center for the Arts; it's a shame the FSO has to play there. Acoustics aren't really what they should be. The balcony seats are arranged in very long unbroken rows (no center aisle) that make... More

It's not necessary always to drive into DC, because GMU offers a wide variety of excellent productions, some of world class caliber. Tickets are cheaper, and there is free parking in a nearby open lot. Sight lines are good, even from the very last row (where we sat for one opera). We have a regional favorite: the Fairfax Symphony Orchestra.

The variety of entertainment offerings is awesome and amazingly eclectic! During the 2013-2014 season, we enjoyed a play by Shakespeare, jazz musicians, Irish melodies, a symphonic orchestra, a ballet, and a modern play. There's something for everybody.

Very compact with no frills. It feels like meeting the neighbors at the movies even when you don't know who is sitting next to you. Good selection, snack bar is affordable, and staff are actually personable. Feels like the neighborhood theatre that it is.

Great opportunity to see a wonderful show close to home. Big fan of the Kings Singers and enjoyed hearing their latest album live. Beautiful harmony. A rare treat.

This was our first visit to the Center for the Arts. The visit was sparked by the performing group, Max Raabe and the Palast Orchester. They are a Wiemar-Era Big Band so we were hoping for good acoustics. The Center is on the George Mason campus and is a little tricky to find. Signage is pretty good and there is... More

Attended the CMU Symphony Orchestra concert. The facility is a wonderful place to experience a symphony as it is smaller than the usual concert hall (and therefore much more intimate) while offering much better acoustics (and therefore much more intense). You can easily see and focus on individual players and distinctly separate their music from the group. Incredible fidelity and... More

GMU Center for the Arts, located on the iniversity campus, is a marvellous place to catch a jazz concert, an opera, classical orchestral music, ballet, modern dance and many other forms of entertainment for sometimes less than half the price you would pay in Washington DC. There is pleny of free parking and a covered parking deck if you don't... More

This gem is, in some ways, a hidden treasure in the DC area. The center hosts many world-class performers each year, many of whom also perform at the Kennedy Center at ticket prices that are more than double form those at CFA. My wife and I have been "friends" of CFA for many years, and regularly take one of their... More
