When I visited I knew nothing about the history of firearms (and had never shot a gun) and was pleasantly surprised by the education I received while at the Museum. It was worth the trip into the NRA and I would recommend it for anyone who is curious - it's a hidden gem in Fairfax.

We have been to this NRA museum three times and never found it crowded (even on a Saturday late afternoon). Few of our acquaintances seem to know of it, and we LIVE in Fairfax! Don't be intimidated by the voice box at the locked door or the somber guard at the desk--they need to take precautions, and after signing a... More

This museum can appeal to a wider audience than one might think. It displays its firearms as art pieces and chronologically, so even if you are not a firearms expert you can appreciate the evolution of the craftsmanship since the start of our country. We really appreciated how they chose to display the guns with mirrors so the details could... More

My kids absolutely loved the firearm museum. Between seeing the progression of firearms through history and seeing ones from movies made this one of the best parts of our trip! Definitely going again!

If you have an interest in firearms, or are interested in being educated about them, this is the place for you. They have everything here. You get to follow development trends. Rifles and pistols predominate. Treatment of cannons is unsatisfactory. One display regarding an autocannon does not give an accurate portrayal of this class of weapon. Museum should focus on... We stopped in on our way home and was amazed by the amount of guns they had on display. If you are deciding to stop bring your guns and ammo and use their indoor shooting range

This is the largest collection of firearms found in a museum. The firearms you will see range from muskets from the American Revolution through what is available today. Some firearms you see were donated and on loan to the NRA. It is amazing to see some of the most rare firearms as well as those that were used in wars... More

This is a small museum located in the NRA building. We accidentally went to the wrong tower, and a woman on the intercom directed us to the other tower and buzzed us in. We were a little surprised that you would have to be buzzed into a museum, but it is the NRA. There is no charge. It is a... More

I am not much of gun buff, but I found the Firearms Museum very interesting. It is located on the ground floor of the NRA headquarters. My 14 year old son and I where looking for something to do while waiting to head into DC for a Nationals game, and we ran across the Museum. It is laid out beautifully... More

We were very fortunate to have a contact who worked with the NRA Director, so had the luxury of going on a VIP tour of the NRA Firearms Museum escorted by none other than Phil Schreier one of the Senior Curators. A VIP tour would have been awesome on it's own but Phil was a walking encyclopedia on the subject... More
