Camped this weekend with my college friends and families. It was so wonderful. Took our boats out the water was clear and refreshing. Enjoyed the beach and canoeing on the lake. Clean, good sized camp site and clean bathhouses. Recommend this place, it offers a lot of things to do. Would love to camp here again.

It rained almost all weekend, but we still had time to enjoy. The lake is pretty, but nowhere for the dog to get in a swim a little. We picnicked and fished and drove around the area. Bathrooms are clean but showers are not separate ones behind doors. The sites were fairly close together but we had some good neighbors.... More

We came here without realizing that our dog wouldn't be allowed off leash to swim in the lake, there is a nice beach for people, but we had hoped to allow her to get wet in another more remote area (she is a golden retriever who loves to swim), but learned that Va parks don't allow it, so we didn't... Claytor Lake has it all from comfy lakeside cabins to spacious and shaded tent and RV campsites. Great sandy beach with swimming and lifeguard on duty, sailing lessons out of the marina on Sundays, guided nature and history tours, hiking trails and more. This place is perfect for anyone and everyone that enjoys being in nature, on or close to... More

The sites were way to close together to one another. Not enough room or sites for pull behinds, fifth wheels and motorhomes. More suited for popups and tents. Even most of the tent sites had no water or electricity. No real activities for kids. Sorry to say, but we won't be going back!

I camped here in June 2015. In this park, all the facilities are high-quality and well maintained. This is a great place to visit. The lake is very large and scenic. There is a marina with boat rentals and a swimming beach with lifeguards. The woods and forest are beautiful. All the campers were considerate and quiet. The place seems... More

This is where we would hold our family reunions every year. My grandfather loved this place. And so did the whole family.

I've traveled and camped through 42 states, and Virginia is by far the most over-regulated, sign-posting, rule-oriented state. There were at least 6 "You Must Obey This Rule" signs in the first 2 miles on the interstate entering from Tennessee. This park was the same way, with lots of rules for the sake of rules. First state park I've seen... More

Visited with my wife and daughter, and really enjoyed it. This is a nice park with ample parking and a great lake for swimming, boating and fishing. The Rangers were very helpful and very friendly. There are also hiking trails and small cabins for rent. We saw deer and rabbits, and were even able to do a little geocaching while... More
