It's hard to say enough good things about this winery. The location is impressive - large in size with 6? tasting bars, food vendors that came in, and extensive seating both indoors and outdoors. They encouraged you to bring your pups, and it was very clear that a huge number of people took them up on that on a regular... More

We spent the afternoon here on a recent weekend and really enjoyed ourselves. We did a wine tasting early in the afternoon and ended up getting a couple of bottles to share amongst ourselves while we ate our picnic. Their facilities are very nice and look to be recently expanded to provide more room for tastings. We did like their... More

My husband and I come to this winery often with our dogs-it's such a great place to taste some really great wine and chill out. Weekends have live music and the view is beautiful I highly recommend this winery for a wonderful and fun day

Made the trip while visiting in DC and it was worth it. Beautiful countryside, casual atmosphere but excellent wine and fun for the kids. Our kids had great fun playing with other children while we tasted. I think a great suggestion would be to offer the tasting glasses after tasting - but we love our wine glasses from wineries. Even... More

Barrel Oak is popular with dog lovers and families-- we took our two schnauzers there for the day, and they had a great time. The winery served Sangria by the pitcher and had a great indoor/outdoor porch with live music. There were also many picnic tables with umbrellas available. I nice day trip from DC. There are many other wineries... More

We visited Barrel Oak on a Sunday afternoon and it was packed! There is ample room inside an out to handle large crowds and their dogs. The atmosphere is inviting and exudes energy. Sharon, the winemaker, has so much passion for what she does and is a joy to be around! Brian, her husband, has a personality as large as... More

We found out about Barrel Oak Winery (BOW) in Delaplane VA on “BringFido.com”, a website that lists hotels, restaurants, and attractions that are dog-friendly. I was WOWED at how dog-friendly BOW really was. They have their own dogs onsite who greet guests and “patrol” the property. I expected to bring my pooch to the outdoor tasting tent, but we could... The scenery at the winery is beautiful. The tasting was a lot to be desired. The girl doing the tasting seemed totally bored and disengaged. Secondly though the wines we tasted were not anything to brag about compared to other wineries in the area. They were very busy with lots of families and their dogs. There was indoor and outdoor... My husband and I went on a Saturday afternoon from 3p - 5p. The winery was very crowded although staff said it was not, usually more people which I can not imagine. We sat outside but could barely hear the live music because of all the people around us. The wines were extremely expensive, our one bottle of Norton was... More
