Fantastic state park!! Very clean and a lot to do. Camping, cabins and sites all for rent. The pool is clean...the beach area was lovely. All in all, I think this is the most beautiful park I've seen in sometime!! Lot's of canoes to rent!

We're camping at this park again this weekend, we were lucky to find a cancellation! We used to be able to get into the campground at a moment's notice, but not anymore. Word is out, and the campgrounds are usually booked every weekend (unless you're staying in a tent, then you can still find sites). We wanted this weekend specifically... More

This was our first visit to the park and we were pleasantly surprised. We had a couple sites with large families and everything went great! Due to the heavy tree cover around the camp sites though, the sites did feel a little small. But this made it feel much more comfortable with adjacent sites since you seemed almost removed from... We actually went the weekend after Memorial Day and the park is beautiful! The camp sites were clean and facilities were well maintained. By far Virginia has THE best parks I have ever seen or stayed at!!! This park is a shining example with it's sites and cabins. We went on a guided kayaking trip in the morning and had... More

I admit our family went for the fossils and crabs, but we definitely got much more than that. Yes, it took 4 of us longer to find shark teeth this time, 8 of them, during our 3 trips to the fossil beach, but we can't complain, it was beautiful. There were a lot of birds, and big and beautiful butterflies... More

This park, which is located on the Potomac River is beautiful! It has many hiking trails, a few beaches, an Olympic sized swimming pool and much more! Everyone should visit this park if they are in the area! I recommend camping in the A loop if you visit!

We spent two nights at Westmoreland State Park over Memorial Day weekend in 2015. I include the details about the holiday weekend, as our experience was likely very different than you might have during less-busy times of the year. We had cabin 16, which is a two-bedroom unit. My ratings and comments are centered on the lodging -- NOT the... More

I first visited the park more than fifty years ago as a kid and had wanted to return to see the fossils. The park has miles of incredibly well marked trails that wind through Coastal Plain forests and wetlands, and includes a great boardwalk, but the real standouts are Horse Head Cliff with its sweeping views of the Potomac and... Great park with amenities. The location is convenient for day trips to historic sites and close enough to the wine trail Ranger told us our tent had to be moved to the crushed stone. That is fine but I wish he had returned after midnight to tell the partners in site b to go to bed. Please enforce all the... More

This park was well maintained and staffed. Went several times and each time the place was clean, lots of staff present. Has a great pool also.
