I recently was at this park for a retreat...what a beautiful place! Cabins are awesome as well. I highly recommend for an overnight. Everything was clean, there is plenty of blankets and towels provided. Coffee pot works. Trails are well marked and the park is really serene. I have not been when the pool is open or when there are... More

We went mostly to comb the beach. This park is known for finding fossils and shark's teeth. Bring a sifter and if it's in the cooler months, bring rain boots or something to that effect to be able to walk in the shallow water.

I brought my boyfriend here for his birthday in mid-late November and I rented a cabin for us. The cabin was great and this park is awesome! We got a two bedroom cabin because that and the one room efficiencies ate the only ones that have a full sized bed (no queens) and the one bedroom just have two singles.... More

This State Park is located on a high bluff overlooking the beautiful Potomac River. The beach and boat ramp area is excellent!! The views are awe inspiring... Hiking Trails in great shape. The rental cabins are well maintained and comfortable. I stayed in Cabin #24 which overlooks Fossil Beach and the Potomac... I have never seen a more incredible sight... More

Can't speak to the overnight camping (that's definitely NOT my thing!) but it's a beautiful park to visit! Wonderful view of the water, well maintained trails - had a lovely time just hiking around. Definitely worth a detour out there if you're in the Northern Neck

This park is a gem! Camping sites are simply fantastic. When we were there, it wasn't crowded at all. I hear it gets packed at times.

This is a beautiful park to. Isit and spend the day as there is plenty to do for the whole family. The trails, beaches, pool and other activities are all very scenic as it is on the river. However the overnight stay on the other hand not the most pleasant. First off the absolute WORST bath houses that I have... More

We spent 2 nights camping in Westmoreland State Park. They had great hiking trails, a wonderful beach and a swimming pool. Fossil beach was beautiful. The staff was very helpful. It is also close to some wonderful wineries to picnic and enjoy on a warm afternoon.

This park has fossil hunting on Fossil Beach. Just under a mile hike to reach from visitor center parking lot. It also has a pool which you get free passes to if you are camping there. It has a small playground. There is also a nice public beach area where you can rent kayaks and more. Great fishing. There are... More

While tiny, this park is beautifully planned. Hiking trails are well mark and clearly color coded. A variety of lengths and difficulty are clearly identified. Nice surprise: signs identify trees and help visitors to learn by detailing features helpful for ID. Interesting groupings of cabins, trails, open spaces, beaches.
