We arrived New Year's Day after having reserved a site in the Whispering Pines campground. It was about five o'clock, someone was in our site and the office was closed so there was no way to resolve the issue other than going into a different site, which worked out fine. The staff adjusted our reservation the next day. The camp... More

Douthat State Park is a good choice at the weekend. The atmosphere was great, clean and quiet & that's a perfect condition to camp with friend or family!

This park is rated one of best state parks in country! I have enjoyed the lake, restaurant, beach and boat house since I was just a kid back in 1950's. Nice beach and beach house and a nice clean clear lake for boating, fishing or swimming or like me just enjoy walking around and watch the views. If you miss... More

I highly recommend the heated cabins! We stayed in cabin 35 and it exceeded all of our expectations. The best part was we could bring our dog for just $10 extra dollars. The hiking here was excellent, lots of well marked routes with waterfalls and overlooks.

Camped here over Halloween weekend. A little late for the fall colors, but got a great camping spot near the lake. Large camping spots so you don't feel like you're on top of your neighbors. Easy access to firewood. Small camp store with essentials. Restrooms are par for the course at a campground. Would return.

This is our second trip to Douthat State Park, and we will be back! We spent the week here for Thanksgiving (Nov 21-28) in Cabin 6, and we didn't want to leave. Cabin 6 is a one-room efficiency and very cozy for a couple. The cabin was clean with a wonderful, rustic fireplace that we used every evening. They sell... More

Beautiful park with great hiking and biking trails. The beach is a quiet oasis on a hot summer day and there are a variety of boats, kayaks and boards to rent. Lodging is plentiful but you need to book early because the cabins and lodges fill up early.

We stayed two nights in the White Oak campground and went hiking on the Tobacco House Ridge Trail and YCC Trail. We were there for "leaf peeping," but also attended the Apple Day Celebration of Appalachian Heritage and Arts & Crafts Fair. It was a nice weekend, and I would return to Douthat State Park again. The campground has large,... More

We timed this perfectly...the leaves were great for fall and the weather was perfect. We have visited and camped in 11 state parks in 9 months and this is my favorite!

Great place to take a picnic lunch, allow the kids to run around and I am sure in the summer enjoy the lake (fishing, boating, swimming). Plenty of hiking trails some looked to be pretty difficult. Was there in the Fall, so enjoyed the colorful leaves. Beautiful park. Came from route 39 so beware it will take a bit of... More
