We will be on a floating classroom with hands-on and feet- on lessons. We will be getting off the boat to dig for clams. You will be pulling up crab pots to identify different species we catch. We will be stopping at a great beach for Shell collecting, but we are on the move again to look for jellyfish fiddler crabs and birds. There is not enough room to explain all we will do. No pressure and no stress . Or you can stay on the boat and watch We use smell, sound ,and taste - all the senses to show you what's here."This ain't no Disneyland ride, no cyber trip. This is the real deal." You can get off the boat get your feet wet and do it all. « less

We have cruised with Captain Barry twice. Our 3 kids couldn't stop talking about it after the first trip. He was so engaging with the kids, taking time to teach them about the amazing nature all around us. After the trip my two year old would play "Captain Barry" with her dolls and all of them begged us to go... More

Barry's cruises have become a standard event in our summer weeks in Chincoteague. We've learned much about the island ecosystem - have clammed, collected oysters and crabs, and just have had fun with Barry's quirky sense of humor! My (11 yr old) daughter prompts me to make a reservation each year as soon as we hit the island! A must... More

This was our third trip with Capt Barry and he never fails to entertain and is so knowledgable about the island that none of our trips were the same. This last trip was great because he took us to Sandbar Island which was made because of the storms and we were able to get back to this semi private island... More

We took Captain Barry's 2 hour tour (only because the half day was sold out). It was absolutely terrific. He is very knowledgeable about the waters, the flora and the fauna. Takes you to all these great little sandbars in the channels, takes you clamming, to oyster beds. Captain Barry is also very likeable -- a really nice unassuming, unpretentious... More

My children ages 13 and 14 had a choice between 2 different boat attractions when we went to Chincoteague Island. They wanted a more hands on experience so they chose Captain Barry's Back Bay Cruise. It was just my husband, children, and I on the boat so we got extra personal attention which was great. Captain Barry was very entertaining... More

Be prepared to get hands on with this 2 hour tour. Our children, ages 9, 8 and 3 loved this as much as my husband and I did. Captain Barry and our family of 5 were the only people on the tour, so he made it very personal for us. We got to dig for claims, pull up crab traps... More

What an awesome adventure for young and old alike. My four-year old daughter and I took a day trip and left Daddy in Ocean City with the baby. My daughter is ready to go back again today and bring Daddy this time! Captain Barry can get even the most shy of children to "come out of their shells". We couldn't... More

I wasn't sure what to expect. I have been going to Chincoteauge since I was a kid an thought I knew a lot about the island. My wife is a grade school science teacher and teaches wetlands who takes us (kids 5-7) on these eco tours. Oh no, another dull presentation with some guy talking into a mic about weeds... More

My husband Dave and I had the best learning experience with Capt Barry for the back bay tour! He was so entertaining BUT extremely infomative. This trip with Capt Barry is a MUST expecially if you have children - they would have a blast. It was a truly hands on tour. We dug for clams with out toes, ate fresh... More
