Our trip was filled with interesting history and beautiful sights. Captian Carlton shared his extensive knowledge and lore of the islands at a leisurely pace. He wasn't satisfied until he found ponies to watch right at the waters edge.

We really appreciated the customized trip which focused on finding the wildlife and ponies. He was very knowledgeable and accommodative. While we didn't need them, he also brought along blankets, extra hats, gloves and jackets just in case someone wasn't dressed warmly enough for our December cruise. We got some great views of birds and the ponies. Loved it!

We are so lucky to have chosen Island Cruises to tour Chincoteague and Assateague and are greatful for all we learned and saw. Excellent local knowledge and choice spots so we got pictures of all that we wanted and more. We were thankful for the blankets and the covered deck so a little rain didn't ruin our cruise. If you... We came to spend time at Chincoteague for the purpose of being on the beaches of Assateague and hiking to watch the ponies. The Gov't shutdown meant the refuge was closed, so the only way to see the ponies was to take a pontoon tour. The captain and tour guide made our trip memorable by boating all the way to... More

We took the Island Cruises boat to the sandbar with our children, ages 3 and 5. They still beg to go back, a year later. What a perfect day. The sandbar is in the middle of the bay. It started out at high tide, but as the tide went out, many little warm water pools formed. The kids loved playing... More

This boat ride around the waters near Chincoteague and Assateague was really nice. Captain Carlton took us to places where he had seen the birds before. He maneuvered the boat so that all the occupants could see all the sights. He was able to give us information about the area and was knowledgeable about both the history and the wildlife... More

Our captain was knowledgeable and fun for the sunset cruise. He was intent on showing us what we wanted to see -- and didn't disappoint. He took extra pains to take the pontoon boat into different inlets so we could get a good look at the famous ponies. What a treat to see them from that vantage point. Highly recommend.

For any size group, this is the cruise to take . The crew was most accommodating and took us to see what we wanted to experience up close! Everyone had fun and the Captain shared personal stories about the island and it's history and local traditions. We had come to see shore birds, and we did, in their natural habitats... More

We originally were planning to go out on a Thursday evening but received a call from the captain letting us know that the wind was really strong and that while he would take us, it would be better for all to reschedule. I'm so happy we did! We left the dock around 10am Friday and they were super helpful. My... More

Had to be at the marina at 4:15 am to depart for pony swim viewing, but it was worth it. Capt. Carlton made sure we had front row seats. At the end of the swim, he even took us around to the other side of the island to watch the pony parade. A great day capped off with great stories... More
