I took the sunset kayak tour. The guide tried to make an informed decision about which direction would allow us to see horses. We quietly paddle through a tiny creek & got a fantastic view of the horses. They were nearly close enough to touch. Entire trip was pleasant & the guide was informed & skilled. Toward the two hour... More

I purchased this tour for my family as an alternative to the annual pony swim as we had young children in the group. After communication from Assateague letting us know that our original date would likely not be ideal to see the ponies we switched to later in the week. I had to follow-up twice to confirm the new date... More

One word- AMAZING!!! We were literally had wild ponies sniffing our kayak, not sure how I could have asked for anything more. There were elderly people as well as young children on this trip as well, so don't feel like you need to be in great shape for the trip. I would also say that the water is less than... More

First off, the trip deals with nature so it is not prequalified or guaranteed. My daughter, her friend and I had a wonderful experience. The crew, especially First Mate Samantha, were very knowledgeable and hospitable. Yes,we didn't walk up to the ponies and touch them but remember they are "wild" creatures. It was a blessing to see them and also... More

We came with some friends for the annual pony swim. My friend made a reservation for 6 of us (2 adults, 4 kids) at Assateague Explorer in order to see the ponies swim from the boat. We were told to be at 3:30 at Pier 43 to get the on the boat. When we got there we met with a... More

We signed up for Assateague Explorer Nature Cruise which has wonderful pictures of people within really close proximity of the horses. They mention seeing dolphins and other types of wildlife. It was expensive and we weren't able to get any closer than about 1.5 miles away. We didn't have binoculars so we pretty much saw brown spots. I understand from... More

So, the website states that in "99.9%" of outings you will see the ponies. We were the .1%. We came down for the pony swim and had researched that as much as we could. However, we did not know the ponies were penned a few days prior to the swim. We thought it was the day before. Therefore, if you... More

Awesome tour. Wish we had known it was just after the pony swim but we did see the horses. Would've liked more kayaking time rather than stopping time but it was a great experience.

We drove done from Buffalo, NY to see the ponies were promised that Ssaturday was the best day to see the ponies before they were gathered up for the pony crossing. Before the tour, we were walking around the marina, and were told by other fishermen that the ponies were already gathered up and that we would not see anything.... More
